I've seen ads for this for the past several weeks and thought it sounded cool, so I looked it up on dish's web site. Despite the entire selling point being that it's VOD at 1080p, the only receivers of theirs that support it AREN'T capable of outputting 1080p. So like. Uh. Nice job Dish.
I'm not becoming a new customer when you create a new product that doesn't work as advertised on such a basic level.

It has a fast response time, but is 160 degrees really considered a low viewing angle? I can't see how it could be, so I can't see how that proves it uses a TN panel.

To confirm once again.. The only story I've heard about an Ultra product was a power supply that did not work (purchased new) and Ultra made the guy jump through many hoops to return it (including paying for shipping).

And about UPS's, not only are APC and CyberPower similar in price, I have a 750VA TrippLite that cost less than the Ultra 700VA.. And that includes the amount I paid for shipping.

So stay way the hell away from the UPS's in this post.

spaceman, it has to supply power, as that is something used for data transfer. Flash chips don't require much power so it probably just functions off the power provided for data.

Too bad so few people have 1394. It would be really cool to have a device with high-end flash chips pumping 50MB/sec thorugh your bus during boot, etc. since USB never gets anywhere close to its limit.

This makes sense to me. A pirated PC game can be installed by following very basic instructions. Except in rare cases, the only people who have trouble are astoundingly dumb.
A console game requires the knowledge that console modifications exist and the ability to use Google (which we all know many people lack) to find somebody to mod a console. It requires some waiting time, money for the work and usually for a chip, and putting aside the perceived risk that the console could be damaged. In some cases it also requires some computer skills, as some console games can't be burned as easily as the data or music CD most users are comfortable with.

This is very similar to installing a Microsoft OS form the hard drive.

The only difference is you're copying i386 to flash media for the speed advantage, instead of to the hard drive so you won't need the disc when changing OS features.

I think Goldeneye had some new very cool things when it came out, but the issues it had were more obvious and, in many cases, annoying. Sure, damage is different depending on where you hit your enemy. But when they all charge at you, howcome their fallen comrades act as a one-way forcefield?
IMO, that game was in a class of its own. But that class was called "Games that would have been way better if they were genuinely difficult, rather than difficult because of weird, unrealistic programming".

I'm actually a little discouraged now that I know Crackdown is being made by the same guy. I'm sure it will be good, but..
