Still persevering through the god awful mess that is Final Fantasy XIII-2's story. Actually it's not that bad. Well, it is but if you don't think about it, the game is a lot better for it. So in between ignoring all guff about paradoxes, the future and time machines and Serah forgetting about Snow, staring at her hands a lot and the annoying Moogle (Boo hoo Kupo) I have been enjoying it, especially the combat. The introduction of having a monster as your third "companion" really opens up the strategy side of fights (I finally realised having a Flanitor with me is pretty useful) and makes the grinding more tolerable, especially to get those rarer monsters. And although he is very much Kingdom Hearts-esque, Noel is one of the more positive and likeable lead characters that the series has had for a while. It's just too bad he has to trudge through the story. And as I might be out and about a bit, I might check out Antithesis and see what all the fuss is about :)
Playing through FFXIII-2 in the vain attempt to try and figure out what the hell is going on. The story quite simply is a mess. And the "puzzle" parts just seem like an attempt by the developers to throw more stuff at the wall in the hope that it will stick. Having said that, the combat is great fun and quite a challenge on some of the bosses. Just wish it wasn't trying to be everything for everybody.
@htinezJ You obviously don't know that Kat is an unabashed Japanophile and is a big follower of the Gundam series and did live in Japan for a while. So I would say she is as qualified as anyone to give her opinion.
@(Unverified) Completely agree. What was hilarious was seeing the indie crowd weep (literally) over this; Leigh Alexander couldn't believe he was being attacked for acting like a jerk. The hipsters have made him one of their own.
Unlike the rest of the gaming world I'll be playing ME2. I am totally absorbed into this world now and really don't want this story to ever end. I have so got drawn into this game like I didn't think I would. Of course it makes the wait for buying ME3 that much harder but it will be worth it.
