@tendoboy1984 Based on the information gleaned from the patents, I think Kinect itself is safe. However, games may not be.

@R Planteer You actually have to read beyond the vague description and go into the actual patent.

I don't think they have a case based on the device. Because their patent describes a system which utilizes a beacon to establish positioning information on the user. Kind of like how the Wii Remote works with IR. It also relies upon a VGA camera, where as Kinect relies upon a IR sensor.

Some of their patents however may have merit with respect to games, since they deal with those more than hardware.

Bottom line is, these patents were specifically and originally intended for Virtual Reality sports training, not motion controlled games. So the context is a little different. Especially with Kinect which doesn't require anything to be worn or held by the user to exact control of the avatar in the game.

@Ezio Auditore da Firenze
Based on the info released about him, he's not a neckbeard loser. My guess, based on his voice, he barely has peach fuzz on his face let alone his balls.

He's a punk-ass kid.

Sony finally releases official statement on PS3 jailbreak

Feb 21st 2011 8:36PM (Joystiq)
@Tachyonic Cargo When a PS3 connects to PSN it uploads a list of every file on every device that is connected to the PS3. It also knows what firmware people are running. It even sends to Sony the make and model of your TV. Seriously.

There is detailed information about what exactly Sony is obtaining from a PS3 when it connects I believe on PSxScene.
