GDC09: Nintendo updates Wii Shop Channel with 'SD Card Menu' [update]

Mar 25th 2009 2:33PM (Joystiq)
this is great! and it also opens up alot of other opportunities... such as the downloading of "video" and other things like that... at first i didn't think the whole SD card storage idea was all that great because of the small memory size until it was confirmed to support SDHC up to 32 GB.. now thats a great solution and cheap at that.. cuz if you want to go small you can get a 1GB SD card or 5 bucks.. great job Nintendo (even though it took a bit too long)

Rumor: EA bundling MotionPlus with Grand Slam Tennis in Europe

Mar 24th 2009 10:57PM (Joystiq)
i think this is good idea, maybe Nintendo should think about letting third parties bundle some of their peripheral with some of the hardcore games so that more people will buy them.. for instance if a really good game like boom blox or no more heroes (and other "hardcore" games)were bundled with a discounted wii remote or other interesting peripheral at less the cost of buying it seperate it would heighten hardcore game sales and in turn heighten interest in developers developing these games for the system

Nintendo unleashes Wii Menu 3.4, updates ToS and removes save files

I wonder why they didn't mention the true update in this one? the SD transfers are definitely much, much faster.. obviously getting ready for that "storage solution" they talked about..

Madden tramples Wii Fit in Q3 global sales

Nov 10th 2008 3:56PM (Joystiq)
the statement that madden trampled Wii fit is highly misleading... Madden across 6 platforms only outsold Wii Fit on one platform by a measly 800,000 units? lets see thats an average of 500,000 units per system, compared to 2,000,000 for one system.. lol.. actually sounds lopsided to me... not to mention Wii Fit doesn't even meet demand... and i'm not even interested in Wii Fit... i contributed to the madden end.. just stating the numberical facts

Microsoft 'can't say' whether they'll beat Nintendo

Sep 6th 2008 12:23AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
guys.. the graphics argument is a dead one... the clear most powerful system of last generation was the xbox.. and that came no where near first place (not to mention it had the most anticipated first party game of that generation in Halo, which didnt help it sail to the first place), nor did the gamecube , which was the second most powerful, the wii is succeeding off of the very same philosophy that made the PS2 such a success, it caters to a larger audience... when sony created the PS2 the whole reason they included the Dvd feature was to draw in the "non-gamer", the recipe for success that Sony illogically shyed away from for this generation due to their cockiness believing they could sell anything they wanted on their name alone..

Boom Blox a bust at retail, sells only 60k units

Jun 16th 2008 2:01PM (Joystiq)
i think this is a slow seller and will sell continuously rather than largely at one time then no more later.. but honestly, i hear people saying this game was advertised, yet i would not even know about this game if i didn't come on gaming sites, i didn't even see advertisements on other websites, not even on myspace... even the ones i did see didn't show anything about the gameplay, just basically a picture and the title... Wii owners are aware that third party publishers have been sticking it to them and to really want to buy a game from a third party they have to be shown that its a good game and a picture wont do, and gaming reviews wont do, because honestly if you're already a gamer that reads gaming reviews you would have already read the good reviews.and seen the advertisements and known about the game.... just advertise with a purpose and more people will buy the good stuff...

Homebrew Channel Beta releases to the public

May 25th 2008 9:23PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
i'm not a fan of homebrew, but i must admit, this application is very well executed... truly does look like something nintendo would release itself... actually , maybe the Big N should hire these guys to do some coding for the VC, give a face-lift and a speed overhaul....
