I think the font is a big deal -- not because of whatever aesthetic virtues it has, but because it is so regognizable as the Spider-Man font, and because the Spider-Man movies are Sony's movies. It's a major bit of branding, IMO.

Screenwriter John August has spoken about this project a few times ... apparently he's working with Mechner himself, either as a co-screenwriter or a producer, I can't recall.
