Netflix cans Qwikster, service staying whole
Oct 10th 2011 12:15PM (Joystiq)I found out through my Dish service, I used to pay for HD Platinum package and that switched over to movie pass this month. It's $10 a month for streaming +1 disk ($15 for streaming +2 and $20 for streaming +3). Blue-ray and games are not extra and disks get delivered just as fast as Netflix. If the streaming service picks up and can get on to one of the consoles I think it will be a way better deal than Netflix. Hopefully Dish Network can see the opportunity that have and capitalize on it, because right now there is an opening to take advantage of.
Shame really, I miss Netflix and it was hard to drop them because I have been with them for years and loved their product. But the changes were too much. I was with them when their streaming service was crap and not on the consoles yet. They had a great game plan but somewhere in the past 18 months or so it went off rails. Losing Starz, no real streaming content updates, price increases then the split off of the disk based service, seemed like Netflix was trying to kill their own brand.
