Verizon can almost serve GigE on existing FiOS platform, which means you'll soon be relocating

Aug 16th 2010 1:31PM (Engadget)
Verizon did also promise to maintain the slowest DNS servers on the planet, thereby reducing what would otherwise be the best internet experience in the world to absolute unbearable shit.

honestly I wouldnt be surprised if it was just the routers they use that keeping them from deploying better speeds. they come with WEP, ha!

Hulu says HTML5 'doesn't yet meet all of our customers' needs'

Hulu says HTML5 'doesn't yet meet all of our customers' needs'

May 13th 2010 7:13PM (Engadget)
given that one day, out of the blue, Hulu stopped working on 64-bit Linux, and five- six- months latter a screen started showing up saying "Sorry, Hulu does not on 64-bit work due to bugs in Adobe Flash" ( recently reverted to the older "sorry, error streaming, check your net connection" ), I'd say Flash doesnt meet any of my customer needs.

Its great cause I get to be a curmudgeon about both companies. Flash clearly doesnt care about making their software work on many platforms, and Hulu clearly is ignoring the fact that the Flash 10.1 Beta for x86-64 used to work.

Palm suddenly means business with games, heading to GDC this year

@worldbfree4me seriously, you care about price at all? that is literally the last possible measurably important metric in playing the mobile game adoption curve guessing game. people will obviously play $150 for a stupidly-cheap-to-build DS1, and they're going to utterly worship the ds2, whatever stupid high price nintendo opines to charge, whatever the hardware, when it comes out: money is obviously not a seriously significant factor here. there is a market. its simply the question of whether you create a compelling experience, whether you can command the markets attention. apple, of all people, knows that, and they better be scared for the apple performance hegemony that currently grants them a place in the mobile gaming world.

@fel except powervr on phones is going to knock ds2's ass to the curb within 10 months, and all thats needed is a high performance platform to run games on. that last part may have to come later, but the ds2 is pre-destined to near immediate obsolescence, by simple nature of moore's law.

of course, if nintendos proved anything, its that obsolescence is no barrier to dominating a market. i just dont think they'll keep the emergent ultra portable market cornered long, if at all.
