Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition arrives this summer [update: more news!]

Mar 15th 2012 3:41PM (Joystiq)
I *hope* they overhaul the interface. I didn't use to have a problem with it back in the day, but I went back to try to play those games again recently, and it's sooooooooooo user unfriendly. I'm ashamed to admit I didn't have the patience to figure it all out again, but I loved the games, and would totally buy them again if the interface was a little more streamlined (note I don't mean axe options or simplify it - just present it better - before I get my head bitten off!)

How one indie studio burns $15K per month (or: this graph looks like Pac-Man)

@chuanl Re: wanting kickstarter to be used for completely new unestablished developers. That's nice that you want that, but

a) you can still have that, it's not like they've suddenly been banned

b) there are people who don't want that - I would never have funded a project created by some unknown, because chances are it wouldn't work out. I am *very* motivated to fund someone who's proven they can create interesting, creative and innovative games that I, personally, would like to play.
The money I'm spending on this kickstarter is not money that could have been spent on some unknown, but wasn't as a result of this project. It's money that simply otherwise would not have gone into game development at all (or any other project, realistically). I would hazard I'm not the only person who feels this way.

Creativity doesn't come out of nowhere. Personally, I am creative when I am well rested and comfortable and not stressing about my bills. I'm perfectly fine with other people needing the same thing, and helping to fund it (especially when ultimately this isn't charity - this is something I would like to see made, so why shouldn't I contribute towards that happening, to whatever amount it's worth it to me)

The price of independence: What it really costs to be an indie developer

Just pledged $15. I got Auditorium for $3 on PSN, which I thought was disgustingly cheap, so it's only fair :) I loved its creativity and originality! I asked for a copy of the PC game, but I'll buy it on PSN as well if you release it there again :)
