Anyone else kept expecting 'Blue Valkyrie needs food!' to pop up randomly during one of the fight sequences?

LGJ: Cross-Licensing Complications

Dec 29th 2009 1:38AM (Joystiq)
Is it like this for Karaoke too? That's a similar setup... the music plays and a regular person sings the lyrics. If royalties ARE paid for that, they should be paid to the band and not the lead singer if the case is like that (for stuff like Madonna etc. She doesnt play any of the music, and she's not singing during Karaoke, so why should she get paid for it?)

Sony 'looking into' changing PS3's newly redesigned Friends list

Sep 10th 2009 1:52PM (Joystiq)
Meh, I got like 1 friend on my PS3 friends list (i really need to start playing something other than FFXI on it...) so the friends list stuff is lost on me.

However... A few updates ago (a year?) they made it so that the cursor would either go to a default place or to the last place you were at. (Basically, turn it off/on and the cursor would be on the game you were just playing instead of over thier New Stuff icon). With this update they got rid of that.. I really could care less about the news they think I want to know. It was VERY NICE being able to easily go back into what you had just be using.

Also, that box in the topright? I turned the info thing off cause I didn't like seeing that thing up there. Now this update comes and puts something in that spot indefinately. Again, I understand what it does.. and if I had friends on the PS3 it would be handy. But I dont, and I'd like an option to be able to hide that as well. Couldn't/won't that end up burning into peoples TVs? (Or are we past that age now with CRTs being basically obsolete)

Square Enix teases Modern Warfare 2 release in Japan

Do they play Medal of Honor in Japan? Wouldn't that be kinda weird for them? you know.. playing as Americans in a war against themselves...

Trion World Network hiring for PS3 MMO development

Jul 28th 2009 10:19AM (Joystiq)
Would this be based off of a new francise or an existing one?
A few they could do:
Stargate: Are there any Stargate games out there? I can't think of any and the idea could be really cool... Different Stargates take you to different worlds.. You'd have the overall Stargate story as well as totally different world types/missions/stories for every world you go to.

Battlestar Galactica: While I'd love a BSG game, im not sure how the MMO part would play out.. I guess it could be more like Warhawk and less like WoW. Mostly space battles against other Online players. Could be cool I guess...

Eureka: Running around in a world of mad scientists.. Sounds intriguing, most likely borning.

Warehouse 13: running around in a world with crazy artifacts. Doubt they could make this an interesting MMO... maybe offline game, but even that'd be iffy.

That's pretty much it right? Unless they go back a bit and try to make a 4400 game, but I doubt that as much as I do a Eureka or Warehouse 13 game. Any other Sci-Fi (SyFy is dumb) shows out there that might work as an MMO?

CharityWatch: TheSpeedGamers tackling Final Fantasy I - XII

Well, they could use the Mission 4-2 fight (Dark Lord in the Castle up north) as beating FFXI... That would be the finish of the main story. The rest would all be expansions.

Or just get rank 10 in all 3 cities, finish RotZ, CoP, ToaU, WotG, ACP, beat AV, PW, all the Sky gods, all the big dragons, get lvl 75 in all jobs (fully merited of course), beat Einherjar, Salvage, Nyzul, Limbus, fully ranked in Assault, finish Dynamis, Dynamis Outlands, get (at least 1) Relic weapon, Mythic weapon, as well as AF+1 and Relic Armors, (Did I forget anything?)

Of course, I've been playing for 5+ years now and have only dabbled in most of that.

Wow, those are some crazy fast times. I'm guessing that means they're just going from town to boss to town to boss and skipping all side stuff. Still a pretty remarkable feat.

Hmm... with the way FFXI is, they should have started a character on day 1 and then seen how far they could get in the time it takes to beat all the other FF games. With the new level sync system they could probably have gotten pretty far (with the help of some higher level buddys to sync up with and have provide gil/items)

So how's this work exactly? They start a game and complete it that same day? What if they don't finish, do they keep playing while someone else starts the next game? Might make more sense to have all games being played concurrently for the full week so that they can actually finish the games... FF game from start to end credits in 24 hours? Im not even sure that's possible...

Trademark registered for 'The Lord of the Rings: War in the North'

Jun 26th 2009 12:14PM (Joystiq)
War in the North eh? So this would be a prequel to the Lord of the Rings? The Armies of Arnor (Aragorn's decendents... those badass 'Rangers of the North') fighting Sauron's minions (including the Witch King, lord of the Nazgul)... could be very good.. so long is it's made for adults and not little kids...

Arrested Army game protester writes up her experience

May 9th 2009 11:03AM (Joystiq)
Im actually kinda surprised it lasted as long as it did. The mall being private property and all.. the 'protesters' were just loitering and screaming in the middle of the hall. If it had been a group of 4+ teenager they would have been escorted out of the mall almost immediately. Actually, if it was the mall near here someone causing a disturbance is quickly taken away and informed they have been banned from coming back to the mall (not sure how they enforce that...).

@Samik - Yes, patriotism is an awful thing. What does it do? It divides us and keeps us seperate. It makes us believe that 'we're better than (you) are', when really no one is better than any other person. Instead of making things up to keep us from progressing ,we should be striving to make EVERYONEs lives better regardless of if they live in the United States or in South America or in Africa etc. We are all one people. We all have a stake in fate of the planet and our race. The longer we keep ourselves divided, the longer it will take to live peacfully.
