I know there are plenty of people in the media and in Washington who will once again blame video games for this act of sickening violence. But does anyone believe for one minute that if this guy didn't have a game controller nearby, he wouldn't have hit the child with something else? It's so easy to blame things like games, music, movies, etc., for these violent acts, because it allows people to ignore the real problems in our society that are at the root of these crimes (not just this one in particular), such as poverty (the gap between rich and poor is ever-widening), poor educational standards, drug/alcohol abuse, lack of adequate mental health care, an ever-increasing number of single-parent or no-parent families, and of course, laughably easy access to guns. But no, it must be the games. Take away the games, and it all goes away, right?

Yawwwn. Someone wake me up when the Neo Geo games appear on VC.

This is why I'm glad I still have my trusty Saturn. I've been enjoying arcade-perfect versions of the entire Street Fighter 2 series for nearly 10 years! Anyway, let's make with the Neo Geo games on the VC, already!

I'd like to add that the PS3 needs a multitude of must-have EXCLUSIVE games. As more and more franchises find their way over to the Xbox 360 (Grand Theft Auto, Virtua Fighter, Final Fantasy; and losing Dragon Quest to the DS in Japan is HUGE), there's even less reason to spend an extra $200 for the PS3 (assuming any future PS3 price cuts are matched by Microsoft). The Wii may not end up outselling either, but Nintendo is off to a great start, and I think the Wii will be far more successful than GameCube in terms of market share. People love the thing, and more importantly, people who don't love video games love the thing. Everyone who's come to my house and played it (including those who haven't played a video game since Pong) has gone away saying that they want one.
