BioShock Infinite's main voice actors explore the creative process

Oct 27th 2011 5:34PM (Joystiq)
Glad to see they Ken wants to get away from using cut scenes to tell stories. I can't stand having the controls (and immersion) ripped from me just to force me to watch some "vital" part of the story. Make the story interesting and i'll want to watch it.

EA adds Warner Bros, Capcom and THQ to Origin

I don't see any developers shifting away from Steam and exclusively to Origin. Its not like the hard copies were ever sold exclusively at Kmart or EB Games.

This is just a way for them to sell to more people and if EA is smart (big IF) then they will start offering Steam like deals to get people to buy from Origin.

Valve has no idea why almost 30 percent of TF2 players spend cash in the game

I also think part of the reason lies in Valve's reputation. Most people like/love them and don't see them as sellouts. They know their community, what it wants and give it too them.

They understand that if you provide a good product or service people will willingly part with their money, feel good about it and keep on parting.

Valve has been the leader in online distribution with Steam and seeing the success they have with TF2 isn't really a surprise.

Take a walk through Deus Ex: Human Revolution's Missing Link DLC

@PN04
Maybe it was but it would have been planned that way before release. Too much DLC feels like a cash grab.

Deus Ex HR was a good game but i'll pass until there is the inevitable sale of steam.

Take a walk through Deus Ex: Human Revolution's Missing Link DLC

and this content wasn't included at release....why?

Can't wait for the day some smart developer gets it in his head to release a game's climatic ending as DLC.

Watch this Binary Domain trailer or there will be consequences

So in the middle of a life or death gun battle your elite squad members are going to be questioning your decisions and even refusing to take orders? Yeah really believable lol.

APB Reloaded cracks down on cheaters

Some people will do ANYTHING to win. Some of us see this as a bad thing while others see an opportunity to supply these people with the tools to help them win in exchange for cash.

As long as the internet provides relative anonymity this practice will continue since people can just move onto another game if they get caught and/or banned.

Online sales will dominate the market by 2013

Its a no brainer for me. I live in Australia and companies think they can charge us what they want and we will just thank them for ripping us off. Take Rage for example....its $90 AU on Steam ( i know its not steam's fault) and $88 from EB Games yet i can buy a key online for $40 and then enter it into steam just fine.

Sites like http://www.steamprices.com/au/search?rage show how much extra i am paying. Since its a digital product there is no reason that i should be paying so much more just because of the country i live in.

I used to pirate regularly but now that i can buy games for a reasonable price i haven't downloaded a pirated game in over a year and i have over a hundred games in my steam list, some of which i still have to get around to playing.

What worries me is EA's Origin looking like it will try and maintain exclusivity of games so you are forced to buy them from Origin. A move like that is more likely to drive me back to piracy than make me buy games at an unreasonable price.

The Daily Grind: Are you in favor of developer-sanctioned RMT?

Sep 6th 2011 9:02AM (Massively)
Whilst i am against it as long as there is demand someone will look to supply it. And demand just seems to be increasing as mmo's get more popular.

I'd prefer it to be developers rather than unknown 3rd party companies who spam chat channels and run accounts to farm gold via in game bots to sell.

As long as its in the background, not in my face and has no discernible effect on my game play then i'm fine with it.

Sony's Rob Dyer criticizes Microsoft's content policies

Sep 3rd 2011 8:02PM (Joystiq)
The only advantage you need is provide your customers and clients a good service that gives them value for money and everyone wins. Sony has started to smarten up. They know if they don't they will go the way of the dinosaur.
