BioWare done with Dragon Age 2, fully moving on to next phase
Mar 20th 2012 7:01PM (Joystiq)Oddly enough, I think I've played a game kind of like that. Can't for the life of me remember the name of it, though...

Jan 4th 2012 4:38PM (Joystiq)The problem with your argument, though, is that publishers will put "Game of the Year" and "Top 10" stickers on their boxes, and list how many awards a game has won on the back. These sorts of GOTY and Top 10 lists on media sites definitely have an impact on the industry, far more than someone commenting on a web site has. To deny that is just ... denial.
November NPD: A new record, with Xbox 360 joined by MW3 and Skyrim on top (Update 2: Sony PR added)
Dec 9th 2011 8:11PM (Joystiq)The games you listed have all sold really well, though, ensuring that games like those will continue to be made. Honestly, I don't think there's any real reason to feel threatened by the success of CoD; there are still lots of other really great games out there.
Live activity last week: Battlefield 3 fails to topple Black Ops
Nov 10th 2011 4:58PM (Joystiq)1. I didn't think I was being particularly dramatic, so I don't really care for your insinuation. I was simply pointing out that while gamers may worry and argue more about quality, companies worry more about sales figures. Which is why fanboy arguments are stupid because none of them are actually making (or losing) money on these games.
2. By "not looking good" I meant looking stupid. You got the idea. EA started up the hype train for BF3 a long time ago and aimed it squarely at CoD and so far it doesn't seem to be going well.
3. I'm no fanboy of either series. I'm playing Arkham City at the moment...
Live activity last week: Battlefield 3 fails to topple Black Ops
Nov 10th 2011 3:46PM (Joystiq)It's all well and good to say that as a gamer you care more about quality than quantity ... But if you're EA or Activision, you care much, much more about quantity. And given that EA has said on many occasions that they thought BF3 could/would be the beginning of the end for CoD/MW, this doesn't look good for them.
Playdead boss says retail model is 'broken,' awaits digital revolution
Nov 1st 2011 5:13PM (Joystiq)Developers and publishers need to be aware of this. If my only option is to download a digital version of a game I may have to think twice about a lot of the games I buy, which in the end is going to cost them in lost sales.
Ace Combat: Assault Horizon review: Old dogfight, new tricks
Oct 12th 2011 2:07AM (Joystiq)What, about optimum controls? Apparently you've forgotten that the "easier" controls have always been the default for Ace Combat games.
Again, I'm still waiting for evidence that this game is somehow a drastic departure from every other game in the series. It's one thing to say that you just didn't like it, but to try and say that it's dramatically different and therefore bad is just ridiculous.
Ace Combat: Assault Horizon review: Old dogfight, new tricks
Oct 11th 2011 6:00PM (Joystiq)I never said anything about optimum anything. Don't know why you're arguing with me about that.
Ace Combat: Assault Horizon review: Old dogfight, new tricks
Oct 11th 2011 5:34PM (Joystiq)How does adding a completely optional feature make this not an Ace Combat game? Everything else is almost 99% identical to every other game in the series.
And gamers wonder why developers never take chances and try to evolve gaming... Every little change or addition is met with flaming rage from entitled gamers who want everything to be just the way it used to be...
