Joystiq Podcast 174 - Hog Rocket Cobbler Gobbler edition

Mar 27th 2011 1:27PM (Joystiq)
Disappointed in you boys! Talking smack about DAII without having gotten very far in the game. The Deep Road expedition concludes the first act, and begins the real story of the game. Part of the brilliance of DAII is the way that so many of the small things are knitted together at the end. The streamlining takes a way a lot of tinkering options, true, but the dialogue is meaningful in this game and a way that it is not in most other games. The conversations, the characters, the building relationships feel powerful. And the ending of this game is epic. I know you hate it when you review a game and then trolls come and curse you even when its clear they haven't played the game yet. You probably should give this game a chance.

Joystiq Podcast 159 - Plot twist edition

Just finished listening to the podcast. Good stuff, but Justin, ranting about how much you want something new and how sick you are of sequels at one point and then ten minutes later scoffing at Heavy Rain and saying Mass Effect 2 is the game of the year just doesn't make sense. Maybe the problem isn't making sequels (or making iterations of the same game) but doing so badly?

Joystiq Podcast 158 - Flightning edition

The ongoing debate about Castlevania in the past few podcasts is great. I see Justin's point about certain button routines and a general brownness in the early parts of the story, but I love the game--I beat it today, and was blown away by the ending, the variety, and of course the length. The story grows on you with each chapter, and the increasing variety of attacks, magic, and foes makes the gameplay exponentially more interesting. This is a hell of a lot of game. Now on to AC Brotherhood . . .

Any chance the audio quality of the podcast could be improved? It's a bummer that such a smart and funny podcast sounds so bad.
