EVE Evolved: Setting the record straight

Apr 2nd 2012 2:22PM (Massively)
I think the only proper word to describe this Mittani guy is: cyber BS.

Keep on the good job Brendan, I really appreciate your column and nothing you wrote initially did shock me in any way. You described quite well what happened and you staid very neutral in your description. The guy got caught with the hand in the cookie-jar, he could not stand it and had to find somebody else to blame to cope with all this.

However, I understand it is Shawn's responsibility to make you amend the initial articles to avoid any possibility of legal actions against Massively.

The Mittani gets hit with ban and resigns in wake of EVE Online controversy

Mar 29th 2012 6:38AM (Massively)
Good for him that he resigned, he absolutely had to do it.
He redeemed himself somehow endorsing his responsibilities eventually. It does not excuse for his behavior but at least he took it like a man afterwards.

As for the 30 days ban, CCP had to do it to demonstrate through facts that they do not support such behavior. Especially when that is not the first CSM member to be banned. In the past, to the best of my knowledge, at least 2 CSM members were banned or had to resign for far less than what Mittani did.

The case is closed for me.

Some people say the CSM is no more valid now: I don't think so. CSM members have been banned in the past and the CSM was never invalidated following these bans. It just went on with reduced resources. Mittani should have taken to heart the responsibilities he had toward those who voted for him and put their trust in him.
CCP is not the source of those 10k voters' disappointment, Mittani is. He is the one who was not worth their trust. The rest of the CSM and voters do not have to suffer from the misbehavings of this one guy.

CCP investigates player panel amidst controversy [Updated]

@Utakata
I would not have said it better, thanks for your comment.

Elected representatives are chosen to work for the people (her EVE players), whatever their opinions.
Of course, they will defend fiercely and make their first priority of the ideas they most strongly believe in, but they have been elected by a democratic process. Thus, they are supposed to defend the rights of everyone of these voters, even those who did not vote for them.

EVE Online's The Mittani issues formal apology for crossing the line [UPDATED]

...that he was feeling awkward... not felling awkward, sorry :-(

EVE Online's The Mittani issues formal apology for crossing the line [UPDATED]

Mar 27th 2012 5:34AM (Massively)
It took him 5 days to apologize ? Even if he did not remember his sayings, there must have been some people either from his alliance or from CCP reporting him what he said almost immediately afterwards. He even admits in his apology that he was felling awkward while leaving the stage from the panel. So he knew at this very moment that he had done something very wrong.

Did it take him 5 days to get sober and be able to write a proper apology ? No, I don't think so. He just apologized when he got officially caught for it.
If he is really what he says, i.e. a decent CSM chairman, he should willingly resign, and not wait to be forced to do it as he waited to be forced to apologize.

The more I read about this guy, the more he reveals his true ugly nature.

This guy is the CSM chairman. Thus, he has responsibilities towards all EVE players. Joking about the behavior of an unknown player is one thing. Revealing the name of this player and encouraging others (in fact all others) to harass him is not acceptable, period.

He must be replaced in the CSM as he appears not to be legitimate in his function anymore.

WRUP: Value this moment edition

I can't stop playing SWTOR so, I am playing it this week-end, again.

I am really sorry for your loss Eliot, it is so sad :-( After living with them for years, those kittens almost become members of the family.

As for policing on RP servers, I am against it: please "don't feed the RP fundamentalists".
Naming is a no issue for me: some names are really funny and enjoyable even if not RP, the others I don't even notice.
The only case deserving policing (or I would say GM intervention) is RP player harassment situations, but it should be dealt with even on a non RP server, just as any player harassment situation.

WRUP: You'd better be wearing green edition

Starting a re-roll in SWTOR this week-end. It will be nice to discover a new one among all these class stories.

More story-driven PvE in EVE Online would certainly make me play this game again and not get bored this time.

Still into SWTOR this week-end, with some ME1 if I have enough spare time (trying to playthrough ME1 and ME2 before playing ME3).

Yoshida: No UMD Passport program in the west because of pricing, demand

Feb 26th 2012 6:21AM (Joystiq)
@Art84

Sony letting me download all the titles I once bought for free should be nice, but I understand there are some technical issues and that it is a service with servers and softwares to design and operate. So I was ok with the idea of the UMD passport having me pay something as a user of this service.

For me, the problem with suppresing the UMD passport is that this service will not be available and if I want to play a game I already payed, I will have to buy it a second time, full price. Ok, there are some discounts for older games but what about the recent games: I will have to pay 40 $ again for one of them ???? It is not fair, it looks like a huge scam for me.

I also agree with your final comment: the Vita should have had the ability to play UMD to be fully PSP games-complient.
I had another idea: why not allow direct transfer of game data from my PSP (reading the UMD) to the Vita through the PSN ? But I don't think it is technically possible for all PSP games, the downlodable versions being different from the UMD versions.

I am sure, as a PSP Go owner, you had a lot of thinking about all that far earlier than me. Sony have some kind of commitment to making bad marketing and technical choices for years now, the PSP Go is one of them. So, I am not surprised by this UMD passport shenanigans.
