Review: MAG

Jan 31st 2010 6:48AM (Joystiq)
Steep learning curve, online only, team-oriented.. sounds a lot like Counter-Strike to me. Which is good. While I also sucked terribly at CS in the beginning and was frustrated because I got constantly killed, I experienced some of the most satisfying online games with it when I finally got a grip on it - and a good team to play with.

If MAG is anything like that, only more so, I'm all for it.

DualShock 3's available this Friday in Europe

Strange. I bought one in a shop here about a month ago. Apparently Switzerland is not part of Europe. I wonder if it belongs to Japan or the US then...

New Mercs 2 trailer reveals August 31st release date

Apr 4th 2008 5:42AM (Joystiq Playstation)
This game will be as "generic" a shooter as the first one was. And the first one was a hell of a lot of fun; the combination of GTA mechanics with pure destruction got me hooked for months, and I have played through the original Mercs several times, which I can't say of many other games.

I think this will be just the right cup of tea for me...

GDC08: Steinburg explains Sony's stance for 2008

Gears was great, but I doubt that it will be able to compete with Resistance's up-to-60-player online play. Graphics aren't everything (and, BTW, R2 looks pretty sick already too)

Microsoft may consider Blu-ray if consumers demand it [Update]

Jan 10th 2008 10:16AM (Joystiq Playstation)
Funny... Microsoft always stressed that everything they're doing is because "it's all about choice". The same reason was given as an answer to why they didn't include a HD drive into the 360. This way, with the add-on, the user can choose...

Wow... How lame is that. And what kind of choice is that, if the user can choose only one of two competing technologies.

A quick exploration of PS3 game delays

Nov 25th 2007 6:23AM (Joystiq Playstation)
Well, Home isn't a game, but it does have games in it (the arcade games, pool, bowling...). So there are ways to spend time in home with gaming, therefore it's not totally wrong to list it as another delayed game.

See how to play Valkyrie of the Battlefield

Wow, that game as a fantastic cell-shading-look to it! And the gameplay looks quite interesting at the very least; I hope it will be available in the US as well!

Firmware 2.01 is now available for download

Nov 20th 2007 7:37AM (Joystiq Playstation)
Stevie, if you're even remotely interested in people being able to understand what you're whining about, use some punctuation and structuring in our posts (if you know what I'm talking about).

I for one didn't have any issues with 2.0 at all so far. And blaming the firmware for the difficulty of finding bolts in Ratchet and Clank is absolutely ridiculous.

What's next... FW 2.0 is to blame for the Darfur crisis?

No limit on PS3 Unreal Tournament 3 mods says Mark Rein

Aug 19th 2007 3:54PM (Joystiq Playstation)
At last, for the first time a real possibility for hobby developers to bring their own game to a console, and without any technical restrictions whatsoever.

I think it can't be estimated highly enough what this means for the PS3 community; until now, only actual game companies were allowed to create PS3 games and distribute them through PSN or on BDs, but with Unreal mods, there's finally a way for everyone to create professional-level games on their own!

It's good to have a PS3!

Halo on the PS3, not the 360 (thanks to Blu-ray) [UPDATE]

Jun 20th 2007 7:04AM (Joystiq Playstation)
Funny story, but there's a big chance that the movie will suck big time anyway, just like most videogame adaptations. A movie with a main character without a face, or actual personality... I wonder how much that will appeal to the mainstream audience outside of the gaming nerd community.

And, honestly, space marines shooting aliens isn't really that interesting as a movie story anyway.
