Download and install the Games for Windows Marketplace Client. That app is used for download and install management at the moment. There is a 'Downloads' Tab at the top of the Client that you should find your game listed there in your purchase history list. Just click 'Download' on the game and then 'Install' when it is done downloading. You can also view any game related keys from that same area as well under 'View Keys'

Thanks for the input. The 'download' link after a purchase on the main page downloads our web-setup installer which makes sure that you have all the necessary software for the GFW Marketplace Client already installed and then tells the Client to go download the specific game you just purchased once you sign-in. Although the website replaces the need to browse and purchase items in the Client, the client still servers as the download and installation manager currently.

Although the Client is needed to download and install most of the games you do not need to start up the client to run the games once they are installed.

If the GFW Marketplace website is currently not supported in your region / country then you can try the GFW Marketplace Client which has more countries enabled and has the same deal on the games. We are working on brining those other countries and regions online through the website.

Some users have seen their download issues fixed after installing .Net 4.0. You can also visit this webpage, if that doesn't help call GFW Customer Support or visit the GFW forums.

That stage (5%) can take a long time as the game is prepped for installation. Feel free to call GFW Customer Support or visit the forums to help find a resolution.

Actually, that is not accurate. Please allow me to explain a few things that are misunderstood about the GFW Marketplace. Unlike Steam you do not need to sign-in or launch the GFW Marketplace Client to launch the games that you have purchased through our Marketplace. Once the game is installed it as if it was installed by a disk, but you don't need the disk to play. Any game purchased through the Games for Windows Marketplace can be launched through the Start menu or through the Games Explorer in Windows. You just need the Client to download and install the game.

Some titles use Games for Windows - LIVE as their multiplayer component within the game, but even those you don't need to sign-in to launch or even play the game (you can create an 'offline profile' if you don't want to connect to LIVE or create a LIVE account). Multiplayer and gaining achievements will require an in-game login, but almost all games now require that for those features. GFWL also supports LIVE profiles signing in ‘offline’ so you can continue your game and earn achievements even if you don’t have an internet connection at that moment.

Also the the Client does not start up with your system. It only starts when you launch it or it may launch in a background 'wait' mode if a game is running that uses the GFWL service, once the game ends it shuts down. You can also opt out during sign-up for news and information about GFWL so there is no 'spam'.

So Games for Windows Marketplace actually provides a bit more flexibility to the user in launching and playing your game without having to launch a client or sign-in compared to Steam.

Usually more than 3x space is required when installing content / games. This is because it has to be able to download the compressed files, unpack the install files, and then actually install the game. Some of the files are kept around temporarily until the game is fully installed in case something goes wrong so you don't have to star the download over again.
Try changing these settings to a drive where more space is available in the GFW Marketplace Client under 'Settings':

Games Directory

Thanks for the additional info, try installing the .NET 4.0. The client required .NET 3.5 but some users have reported that installing 4.0 has solved some of their problems around crashes.

Windows XP requires a hotfix update that the GFWM Client needs to validate the files after downloading them. It works fine without the hotfix for smaller files, but downloading full games will run into issues like the one you described above. Check out this page for more information / tips. You can find a link to download the hotfix relative to your OS's language at the bottom of the page as well:
