Riccitiello talks 'Project Ten Dollar' and digital distribution

Feb 10th 2010 11:49AM (Joystiq)
It's a slippery slope. On the surface it doesn't sound like a bad idea, but what stops a publisher from withholding the final level or boss fight for the sole purpose of screwing the used market?

Pour one out for Halo 2 and the original Xbox with Bungie on April 14

Unless you already have all the DLC maps on your 360 you probably won't be able to take part since MS already took them down. :( Pretty shitty move MS, pretty shitty.

The Beatles: Rock Band raises $217,780 for charity (so far)

Jan 29th 2010 10:10AM (Joystiq)
Did you really need the last part? Such flamebait usually invalidates everything that precedes it but I'm bored today so...

First, the game has only been out a couple months. All You Need is Love is exclusive to the Beatles game so you are looking at a pool of about a million people, not RB2's user base & release date. So roughly 10% bought the single DLC song, so maybe pathetic may not be the right word, but disappointing given the fact that gamers have shown in the past they are more than willing to come out in support of charity(see Child's Play).

Yeah, the exclusive charity thing was just silly. Also, by that figure, only 100k people bought the song? ... out of millions that bought the game? Pretty pathetic unless HMX and MS are still taking a cut out of every $2 sold.

PixelJunk creator disappointed by cheap gamers

Jan 16th 2010 10:02AM (Joystiq)
Dylan Cuthbert clearly doesn't get it. As a cheap gamer, it's NOT about price it's about digital content. A lot of PS3 games do not have demos, unlike Live which make a "blind purchase" on a game over $10 more difficult. I'm not going to drop $15-$20 on a digital game I can't try out first. Also that purchase has zero resale value. If I buy and don't like his game I'm SOL. At least with a $60 retail lemon, I can turn around and recoup some of my cost because there is a physical product involved and can trade or sell it. Even something as simple as being able to lend out my $60 game to a friend has more value than a $10 digital title that I can't.

Tesla guitarist reveals 'Modern Day Cowboy' headed for Guitar Hero 6

Nov 24th 2009 9:02AM (Joystiq)
Yea! I got a tip printed. lol

At any rate, I'm a huge Tesla fan (hence finding the blurb about GH6) and would much rather see them in Rock Band. Hopefully Harmonix is listening.

My 3 year old kid just standing and staring at me while I was sleeping. Nothing like waking up with someone just 'there' at 4 in the morning.

Warren Spector would love to make a new DuckTales (ooh-oooh-ooh)

Oct 25th 2009 6:22PM (Joystiq)
DuckTales? I would buy that in a heartbeat. The original NES game is a classic. I think I still have my cart around here somewhere.
