Super Mario World is Miyamoto's favorite Mario game

Nov 9th 2010 8:46PM (Joystiq)
Mario World is too straight forward and all the levels lookalike just rearranged differently. While Mario 3 offers variety, like costumes, giant world, snow world, dessert world. Fun times!

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 review: Spin-dashed hopes

Oct 14th 2010 12:33AM (Joystiq)
Sonic 4 is nice. I purposely played the original Sonic moments before playing Sonic 4. The footage we've seen doesn't do it justice until you see it on your HDTV. It really pops and Sonic has this nice weight to him.

Unfortunately it's not all good. There are times when Sonic slows down, because he's confined to a small space and doesn't have enough room to pick up speed. This becomes very apparent when you battle Eggman in the final Casino Boss level.

You're confined to a small space, evading Eggman's attacks, trying to recover rings you lost and Sonic is suddenly moving slow. You'll be screaming at your TV - Come on! move!!! WTF!? It's like Sonic wants to stop moving. Some levels can get down right frustrating, like the Labyrinth levels. You have to light torches in a certain order to get platforms and walls to open in the order that let's you go through and proceed. Good luck. There's also a lot of instant death areas too, like where if you mess up you fall and die.

The other thing is and this maybe a personal choice. The soundtrack is pretty annoying. Especially the first 3 stages. I had to lower the volume. It hurts my ears. It's not pleasant to hear. You don't wanna hum these tunes. It's not just the uninspired melodies, but the sounds they're using are dull and ear aching, again this is a personal choice from someone who loves game scores, especially retro ones.

Halo 3 not HD: runs at 640p, pixel counters claim

Is my copy of Halo3 damaged or are the graphics supposed to have that much flickering spots? Is that normal? Seriously, I was surprised.

Barker lays smackdown on Ebert about games not being art

Sep 27th 2007 12:56AM (Joystiq)
Games are already being seen as art. The 8-bit Museum, which features 8-bit artwork, in the same style as an art gallery. It's already happened. Gaming is art, just like pop culture can be art.

This is probably the most important comment made here today at Joystiq. That's not me being vein. Its a fact, just read what i wrote. I rule!!!

Zac Efron turns Los Angeles Halo 3 launch into teeny bopperazzi fest

Sure Zac Efron, enjoy while ya can. Judging by your facial structure and cocky expressions. You're headed down Jan michael vincent territory when you get old. It's not pretty.
