PS3 shooter may have been running scared

This really should have had the Billy Crystal movie poster instead of the Paul Walker. Also, a far superior movie.

For your enjoyment: WiiCade

Has no one but me thought to consider how wrong the "are vector based, which should mean no jaggies." comment is? It's all dependant on the rendering engine, it doesn't matter how the lines get on the screen. Turn Flash animatiosn to Low Quality and you'll see plenty of jaggies, you just wont' see any more than normal if you zoom in on them.

Serious Games Summit: Epic Games' Mark Rein

Ramza hit the nail on the head, 4 million is the high poly version they use for normal maps, in games are probably around 10k, exactly.

Lou D, where'd you get the 10k number for RE4? That's pretty amazing if true, didn't realize the Cube was pushing quite so much. I wish there was more info on that sort of stuff.

Joystiq Poll: Do you watch cutscenes? [update 1]

Oct 8th 2006 8:01PM (Joystiq)
Nothing wrong with cutscenes, but don't let them stand in my way of actually playing the game. I was checking out Okami for the first time and only sat down to play for a few minutes, but I had to endure around 30 minutes of pressing the X button just to get through all the opening stuff. It wasn't even automated, so I couldn't just sit back and watch, I had to tap the button for every dialog box, and no option to just outright skip (which should ALWAYS be an option, no matter what game you're playing). So that annoyed me, and I don't expect to ever play it again (was just checking it out at a friends), because I don't want to sit through all that again (memory card was full, oh well!).

Alternate carrying cases for PSP & DS carts

Sep 29th 2006 6:32PM (Joystiq)
I use a soft plastic (not a jewel case hard plastic style) Mini-DV tape case. I put a piece of foam in the bottom (the case is slightly longer than the games) so the games don't rattle around in my pocket, and it holds about 6 DS games. I only have 5 though, and one is always in my DS. I'll try and post a pic later. Fits in my pocket great, but if you had more than half a dozen + 1 games, you're going to need something more. Try an Altoids tin?

That butter container is a nice idea, looks like it'd hold a ton of games too.

Rumor: Your money is no good for GameStop reservation [update 1]

Sep 16th 2006 4:17PM (Joystiq)
What so new gamers aren't allowed to pre-order a Wii at Gamestop then? What a joke. I suppose I'll just buy mine through Amazon or some other site then that doesn't treat me as a cash cow.

Either that or I'll just wait till there are a bunch sitting on a shelf unreserved a few months later.

Modding about Fallingwater; Frank Lloyd Wright house in HL2

Well, I can cross this off my list of things to do. Wish I'd done this ages ago, love that house.

Possible PS3, Wii demo kiosks

Both just look like 3d renders to me. Doesn't mean they're not official, just that they're probably not real.

Contour captures faces, avoids Uncanny Valley

After reading more, it looks like it DOES do animation? Too bad I'll never watch their stupid .rm file. Anyone have a link to a real file format?
