Nyko's 'silky' PS3 Raven controller comes in regular and identity-crisis versions
Jun 30th 2010 9:23PM (Joystiq)I got replacement analog sticks for the classic Xbox controller (not the 360) and they fit the PS2 controller pretty well,(and I think the PS3 has the same analog sticks as PS2, if not you could try replacing them with the actual 360's analog sticks) though you have to take the controller apart to install them. To me, it was worth it.
The other thing that i don't like about the PS3 controller is the convex shoulder triggers, but they sell caps that fit over them to provide a convex trigger.
Time for a bit more of the Portal 2 E3 demo
Jun 30th 2010 9:12PM (Joystiq)Unless Portal 2 comes with turrets that can't simply be knocked over, all of them could have been taken out without needing to burn them or suck them into a pipe at all.
FIFA 11 'Personality+' is not quite what we were thinking
Jun 24th 2010 2:43PM (Joystiq)Or is that already implemented in soccer video games.
Portal is free, and here's a cute video about it
May 14th 2010 8:39AM (Joystiq)1.) When a game has a free week or weekend deal, Valve has the timer show up in the games list to show you how much time you have left. There’s no reason for this not to be the case here, even if it's 10 days before the time limit would expire(if it existed) Since there’s no timer, I think it’s fairly safe to assume that: YOU GET TO KEEP IT EVEN AFTER THE DEADLINE OF THE 24TH, PROVIDED YOU OBTAIN IT BEFORE THEN.
2.) Free Portal does NOT include Source SDK, Base, or Base 2007
3.) Source SDK, Base, and Base 2007 are ONLY free IF you have actually PURCHASED a Source Game. One of these:
http://store.steampowered.com/search/?sort_by=Price&sort_order=ASC&category1=998&category2=16
(I don't know why, but you occasionally have people who forget that the Source SDK is tied to a purchased source game and think that it came free with Steam. Which is not true.)
4.) If you only have the Free Portal, and no other source games, then Portal MODS will SHOW on your games list, but they CANNOT be PLAYED.
Currently, this means you cannot play Chronoport (a short demo mod), Portal: Prelude, Aperture Deja Vu, and (if it ever comes out) possibly Chell's Legend (you should be able to find them with a basic google search) The list isn't long, but Prelude and Deja Vu are both biggies.
5.) Portal Map Packs CAN BE PLAYED with only Free Portal. Most of these aren't large though. Only Portal Underground Story and Portal Flash Verson map packs stand out in everything I've played.

Apr 11th 2010 8:58AM (Joystiq)Sticky Version - standard rules of tetris might still apply in this tetris hell take, which means that the pieces are only tilted to the side in order to maintain relative alignment with what they were placed on and are sticking to(in this case, the curved floor) If this is the case, then a tetris block could be placed in the exact center of the curved floor and it would maintain a flat alignment. Pieces placed on top of that flat piece would then also be able to maintain a flat alignment and could be used to build up a platform that would be made wider until you eventually formed a flat surface above where teh curve of the floor starts so that you can play tetris normally, with the only handicaps being that your space to work in is halved.
Topple Version - topple version is if once placing a tetris piece, it would topple based on what effect gravity would realistically have on a piece of that shape. This version is harder to deal with, but is theoretically possible, since if they are reacting to gravity realistically, it should also realistically react to being pushed by pieces that you are in the process of placing. This would allow you to use a piece that is still falling to prop the already fallen pieces into a playable position.
Ultimately the strategy is the same no matter what the rules are: Fill the bottom area that is inside the curve with junk, you aren't trying to score any points inside of it, but make sure to keep things level so that when you are above that area you can start laying pieces flat across.and play tetris like normal.
Geohot brings back other OS support with PS3 3.21OO custom firmware
Apr 7th 2010 2:55PM (Engadget)I wasn't talking about ease of getting homebrew to run, but the type of creativity that homebrew on the system allows. Xbox 360 hasn't made any major advancements since PS2, except for online service and better graphical power, which is going to be harder for the more independent homebrew developers to take advantage of.
The stuff you get from Wii homebrew actually has been exploring the use of the motion controls and the IR camera, sometimes even better than what professional games have managed. PS3 already has motion controls, as well as that upcoming wand that's supposed to compete with the Wii remote.
Sure, Xbox360 is coming out with Natal, but there aren't any buttons, so it's basically the same problem you have with games for the iphone.
