Reuters: Video games are for adults, too

Jan 23rd 2010 9:18AM (Joystiq)
If you want to leave your glasses on, then you can also use the forehead focused facepalm, where you put the base of your palm just above the ridge of your eyebrows with your fingers pointing up so they span towards the top of your head. This usually requires you to bow your head down more than with the standard facepalm.

It implies an entirely different emotional reaction though. Rather than just being utter despair over the failure of the person prompting the facepalm, it implies more of a "that is so stupid that it is causing physical pain directly to my brain for even contemplating the level of stupidity, and putting pressure on head is the only thing that eases the sickening throb of my head splitting open as my brain attempts to escape by killing itself rather than be infected further by your continued existence."

First-Person Tetris will spin you right round, baby, right round

Really? I actually found night mode to be much easier to play, once the first block dropped and i was able to get my frame of reference.

Rumor: Sun sets on 'Edge of Twilight'

Too many rabid Twilight: New Moon fans hounding them with complaints about how their vampires didn't sparkle. It's understandable that they folded under that kind of pressure.

Engadget's Black Friday giveaway, part nine: win a Dualshock 3 Wireless controller for PS3!

I don't actually have a PS3, but I do have a bluetooth adapter for my PC, and I'd love to see how well this controller would work using it.

'Half-Contra' explores NES Contra as done by Half-Life 2

Nov 26th 2009 12:27PM (Joystiq)
Orange Box and the HL1 anthology is the best purchase if you're only interested in the Single Player experience. Though with the deals steam runs, it may be cheaper to get Half-Life, Blue Shift and Opposing Force as separate games when they go on sale.
Either way, you can't beat the Half Life series and Portal when it comes to the support of the modding community. The mods here are cute little nostalgia pieces, but I've played mods that are just as good as the games Valve put out themselves.

Activision Blizzard sued by ... yeah, it's the PSN guy

Nov 25th 2009 11:06AM (Joystiq)
That's the point. He DOES have the right to attempt this stuff. He will look like an idiot, get thrown out of court every time, get nowhere at all, and become the mockery of the internet gaming community at large, but he does have the right to pursue this.

Activision Blizzard sued by ... yeah, it's the PSN guy

I believe in one of the original articles about this nitwit, he claimed that he was exercising his basic human rights of "life, liberty, and happiness" so addressing this issue should be as simple as pointing out that the basic human rights are "life, liberty and the PURSUIT of happiness"

He has no right to BE happy, only to pursue it. Everyone else has the right to tell him to shove it up his ass.

The terrifying prototypes of Tony Hawk: Ride

Quote from the source site - "Why rectangular holes? We’re told that a widely-used motion controller was fitted in each, giving the Robomodo team a clearer picture of how the motions of the board translate to software."

gee what type of controller could they possibly be referring to? *coughs*wiiremote*coughcoughs*
