Dell Studio 17 quickly hacked to run OSx86

Jul 30th 2008 11:42AM (Engadget)
This whole thing is just stupid to me. If you want OSX then buy a Mac. I have a PC. I run vista, I accept it. This debate is similar to if people were to complain that you can't get Big Mac sauce @ Burger King. . . If you want a big Mac go to McD's if you want a whopper go to Bk.. Same goes for an OS. Not that hard

iPhone 3G must be activated in-store (and other followup questions answered)

Anything new on FAN discounts? I know it was not available under the origial sales method, however this generation seems to be more traditional. 22% would go a loooong was towards helping with the increased data rates. Thanks in advance

TUAW predicts WWDC '08

Jun 7th 2008 2:04PM (TUAW.com)
I'm going out on a limb here and saying that there will be an announcement of a future osx for PC. I'm sure there will be about 400,000,000 people telling me i'm stupid, however i think it makes sense. The two bridges...one Mac, one PC. Also, with the rising popularity of OSX86 as an alternative to a mac purchase, I believe that apple will attemp to profit atleast from the software side of it. Pystar won't be the last to offer such solutions as well. The days off OSX on only Apple hardware are coming to an end, whether Apple likes it or not. That said, no one will ever do apple better than apple. They will still continue to build beautiful machines that run better than thier PC counterparts, however in the future it will be about options to the consumer. With apples increased consumer electronics offerings, I believe it needs it's computer sales less and less. I see Apple making OSX more of a multi platform OS.( As in OSX iPhone, OSX Mac, OSX PC, OSX TV..ect)With the low satisfaction with Vista, I believe that apple will see this as a great time to grap some market share. What if all those people "who switched back to XP" had the ability to switch to OSX instead?
I'm not a tech guru, or some wall street analyst, just a guy who reads a lot of blogs, who has a hunch. Keep in mind though...I am also a guy who picked the Buffalo Bills every year in the super bowl...so, that should tell you something. lol
It was a nice thought i suppose=)

Xbox Live down Monday morning for spring cleaning

Apr 20th 2008 1:28AM (Joystiq)
I think they are beefing up LIVEs servers for the spring update. I am of the belief that the spring update will usher in the era of free xbox live for all. I'm sure at this point it may seem crazy to most, but sony will have atleast something close to LIVE feature wise soon. How much longer can they keep selling something for the price of a game when the competition is giving it away standard. Sure current xbox owners and current live subscribers(like myself) have no real issue paying for a quality service, however the issue will come into play when selecting a new console for many. As for current gold members? Give them 5000 MS points. Members get something is return and MS has very little overhead as they will only see those MS points given right back to them. I beleive this will take place with the spring update...but if not now, it's coming. Or so I think=)

Reminder: Stockpiled Wii sale tomorrow -- plan ahead

ya'll need to come to naples florida, lol. I went to best buy at 8am, was 3rd in line. the second place in line was a guy and his wife, she got a call sayin that circuit city was handing out vouchers at 9...this was at 9:15. He stay, she went and she called him and told us they had 25 and she just got there and was 3rd in line. so I went there ended up 5th, doors opened 30 min later 8 people bought their wiis and left...no one else in line at that time. They didn't have any remotes or chucks so I went back to best buy and when they handed out vouchers I was 14 in line and they had 45. So I could have easily got two, as about 4 ohers did. I just told the manager that all I needed was the remote the 'chuck and the classic controller...he said he'd put one of each aside for me...and he did. The rest is history. People were walking in at 11:15 getting vouchers....I guess it pays to live in a town with a bunch of rich old people

Nintendo's new Zelda falls flat

Nov 12th 2006 2:04AM (Joystiq)

Maybe, just maybe...you should not assume that nintendo doesn't know what they are doing. Have you ever been outside at twilight? "The time of the day when the sun is just below the horizon, especially the period between sunset and dark."
