Mar 14th 2012 4:54PM (Joystiq)I would have been satisfied if the game had ended before that last elevator up to the catalyst. Hell, I would have been more satisfied if we failed to stop the Reapers and the galaxy was doomed for another cycle. As it stands right now, I am really upset with the ending, not because it had nothing to do with previous choices, I was satisfied that my choices made were relevant to WHEN I had made them. For example, peace between the Quarians and the Geth was satisfying for the choice itself, not whether it impacts the finale or not. What I was unsatisfied with was the unimaginative way it ended. As soon as I met the catalyst I actually said out loud "Oh, ok, so you're the Architect from the Matrix, that sucks." AND THEN when I made my choice and the Mass Effect Relays did their thing I again said, out loud... "Oh, so they're the Rings from Halo, that sucks." I'm sure the next choice I make at the end of the game will be followed by "Oh, so your the virus from Independence Day, that sucks."
The good news is that outside of the last four minutes of the game, I loved the entire series. So if I can play 99% of the Mass Effect series with total satisfaction, that's a big win. It is a great series, and I love Bioware for bringing me this series, regardless of my selfish desire for a better ending.
