>>What about Rockstar's GTA series for example.

Rocktstar North are Scottish, not American.

>> i played wii sports bowling for an hour straight.

I just can't work that one out. I suck.

I managed to get a pre-order from game that nobody collected. :-)

Everyone I've spoken to (toysrus, comet, game) don't seem to think they'll get any this week. Virgin megastores keep getting stock (leeds the day before yesterday got 30) and there are rumours that some Asda stores may get some.

Buy a cell, get a free 360 core, be happy

In the UK it is normal practice for online mobile retailers to give away stuff with their phones. It isn't unusual for 360s, DS, Small LCD TVs and so on. It's been going on for years and is legit.

The prices are actually better than most high-street although you usually have to take a £30+ contract to qualify and not change it for 6 months over a 18 month contract. In the past I've been given a GBC and a Symbian Organiser.

Off the Grid: The analog analogues

Me too - both the pac-man and zaxxon ones. I'd completely forgotten about them until I read this. The guy earlier was right - carpet did not work with pac man very well. I have a vague recollection that zaxxon was the much better game though.

Sony says European gamers "don't mind" delays and later releases

I don't think "don't mind" is the right word. "Don't have a frigging choice and are pretty much used to being dumped upon" fits better.

Why the red ring of death?

Free Dead Rising content (already?)

I don't think he was bitching about free content as much as bitching about the month+ delay for the european release.

Current top 10 Xbox 360 game rankings

>>Hence the word "port"...it's a game that is either developed by the same team for multiple platforms or made for one platform then ported over to another after full development has completed.

No. There is not an either there. A port is not a game that is developed for multiple platforms simulateously. A port is a only game that is developed for one platform and then subsequently reworked for another.

GR:AW on the 360 is not a port as it was written for the 360 then ported to the PC. The Xbox version is not a port either as it is a completely different game which shares a lot of elements of the original.

Oblivion and COD2 are not ports as they are multi-platform titles from the start.

Ports are bad things as the titles were not written with that platform in mind so they are not likely to be as well optimised. Usually this means they suck.

Multiplatform games are usually OK as the same teams create the artwork, level designs and the like then they are coded for seperately and deliberately for different specific hardware. This may, however, lead to compromise which can be bad.
