Sigma's mysterious SD15 DSLR finally ships to US, gets unboxed enthusiastically

@olegkikinhotmailcom, but this is real resolution, not fake - like from the Bayer sensors. Check out the reviews for the SD1 and SD2 - the photos look well.

THQ executive impressed by 3DS piracy protection

Jul 12th 2010 10:09AM (Joystiq)
@Megaqwerty "the piracy problem is absolutely terrible with the DS"

I would say compared to DS game price problem, with the amount of over-prices shovelware on the DS, piracy is only justified.

Nintendo DS (and Wii) still doesn't have anything even remotely close to the full-featured demos: something people can try out before forking the $30-60 of the hard earned.

Nintendo is fighting the piracy the wrong way. Even with DSi they still can't provide all the services R4 was providing to gamers 5 years ago. (Moonshell? Cheats? Full games off the SD card?)

Question to Android phone owners:

It is possible to disable all the animations?

When I look at the battery life stats, I'm kind of confused of why would anybody allow the effects to waste the precious charge.

Nikon planning "new concept" mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras with enhanced video modes

@Engadget: I see. What a poor news outlet you are, if you miss the news.

If your reaction to the Nikon news was "WTF?!", here's the explanation.

http://43rumors.com/and-the-mirrorless-market-grows-and-grows-new-market-share-increase-in-japan-now-32-5-in-june/

"The mirrorless camera segment is still growing in Japan and in June only 32.5% of all sold system cameras were mirrorless!"

In past I had bad experience with ASUS custom boards. Their version of ATI Catalyst drivers is extremely crappy. And you need the customized drivers with the crappy ASUS software to run it optimally. IIRC just to be able to regulate fan speed automatically you have start 3 or 4 apps. I would avoid the board if only for the ASUS drivers....

@Roger Moore: then try to make such a photo using the usual process: dslr + raw + photoshop.

From all pinhole camera photos I have seen, actually the most interesting are the people shots. Pinhole manages to make a cold day smooth and soothing... The effect is hard to reproduce otherwise.
