Japanese NiGHTS trailer sort of a nightmare

Sep 1st 2007 11:23AM (Joystiq)
Like other people here, I think Joystiq forgot how the music was in the original NiGHTS. It's been a long time since I've heard this theme, but it's still catchy after all this time. However, the version in Christmas NiGHTS was better, I think. Either way, listening to this stuff really brings back memories. As long as the game captures the essence of the original NiGHTS, then I'll be happy.

With all of the people talking smack about this version of the game, you have to wonder if any of them actually played the original....

LGC07: Nintendo booth tour reminds us we're not the target audience anymore

Aug 28th 2007 11:12AM (Joystiq)
Guys the real problem the Wii is facing is not Nintendo, but third parties. Even a friend of mine who does Wii development keeps saying that his company is focusing on "casual" titles. If all third parties are gonna do is make "casual" games, then who's gonna make the games that the "core" gamer likes to play? Apparently, no one. You'd think after all this time that some of these third party developers would pick up the slack and provide more games for the "core", but seems like every time one of them announces a game, it's a "casual" game for the Wii and a "core" game for the 360/PS3. That's the root of the problem and they keep telling me that the Wii is for "casual" players.

The sad fact is that it will stay for casual players as long as no one makes games for the "core". It's depressing and even some of my developer friends tell me straight up to purchase a 360 or PS3 if I want a gaming experience for the "core" audience. My question is why should I have to? If more third parties made games for the "core" on the Wii, then I wouldn't need to have another machine. There's never any answer to that. :(

Check out the 360 version...

I could probably find a better video, but this works to show how the players move in the game.

I think that's how it looks in the 360 version as well. Looks pretty good for a 360 port.

New games this week: Madden '08 edition

Aug 13th 2007 11:02AM (Joystiq)
I haven't purchased a copy of Madden in many years, but I heard the Wii version is pretty good, so I'm thinking of picking it up. The 360 version seems alright as well, but basically its the same game we've been playing all these years. I just can't get excited about that for some reason. All this does is make me wish that 2K would release a version of 2K8 for the Wii. :(

Metroid is Shining in the Darkness of the Cratermaze on Virtual Console

Aug 13th 2007 10:54AM (Joystiq)
Oh man, Shining in the Darkness!!! Finally! I've been waiting for this since Sega announced it was coming a few months ago. Would be nice if they bring the rest of the Shining series now. Outside of that, not much I'm looking forward to on the VC. I'll pick up Metroid and Super Metroid next week to be sure, but not sure what to get after that.

It's pretty simple...I don't steal. I'll happily wait for it to be released on the VC.

I just want them to add Shining in the Darkness. I owned that game back in the Genesis days, but I don't have my cart anymore. I'm hoping the game shows up in the next couple of weeks. Good to see Shining Force on the list. It's a great game and well worth playing if you haven't played it already.

Funny that games like Actraiser or Bonk aren't on that list somewhere. Maybe people aren't playing TG-16 games....

Shining Force, Kirby's Dream Course, Devil's Crush come to Virtual Console

Jul 23rd 2007 11:48AM (Joystiq)
Isn't Sword of Vermillion already on the Virtual Console? I could have sworn that came out some weeks ago.

I'm looking forward to Shining in the Darkness. When is Sega gonna release that? They mentioned it in a press release last month that it was coming, but has yet to hit the VC. Maybe next week.

Sony: Enough 60GBs for "several months" in U.S. [Update 4]

Jul 13th 2007 2:21PM (Joystiq)
You're giving Sony too much credit. Kaz specifically states they'll have only one SKU and that's the $599 one. Right now they only have one SKU and in August they'll have two until the 60GB version is gone. Sony can drop the price of the 80GB model at some point, but I doubt that will be anytime before Christmas. It's pretty obvious that they're fine with the $599 price currently.
