Black Ops, FIFA, Just Dance make UK's Top 10 entertainment products
Apr 14th 2011 10:59AM (Joystiq)I would disagree in that you think my comments are based solely on fanboyism or hate, I’m a little too old in the tooth for immature antics and views, plus I prefer serious discussion so lets cut the name calling crap and discuss… do you honestly feel that the online game in CoD has improved through release since MW4, do you think/feel it’s getting better?
Me, I’m getting that deja-vu feeling with it all, if I’m honest I’m getting a little bored something new need to be added and an overhaul of the engine for the next one.
As it stands with minimal updates to the engine and gameplay it’s all starting to blend into each other. I’m not easily bored with one game especially if I’m enjoying the multiplayer, I’ve invested around 420 hours in one of the current FPS right now and have no plays to stop playing it
Black Ops, FIFA, Just Dance make UK's Top 10 entertainment products
Apr 14th 2011 7:16AM (Joystiq)...and this is what surprises me. That people buy into this game when it’s inferior to the last, the last afore that and especially the last afore that.
It’s not hate; I just don’t applauded shoddy work. We should be holding developers accountable for not improving the games that are then selling to us for 60 bucks.
If people continue to lap this standard up (and pay over the odds for the privilege) then what motivates developers/publishers to do a better job on the next iteration of the series.

Apr 14th 2011 7:09AM (Joystiq)I'm not clear on your point, Infinity Ward had nothing to do with making Black Ops, it was made by Trayarch.
Unless you mean Trayarch are riding on the coat tails of Infinitay Wards IW engine, which must be coming in or around 6 years old and in high need of an overhaul?

Its the amount (size) of information that would need to be sent across the network from 63 player to 1 player 64 times
Battlefield 3 trailer - nearly three minutes of gameplay
Mar 2nd 2011 10:40AM (Joystiq)From the chat with the developer they explained that it was down to the 'quality of service' agreement that MS and Sony have on their networks.
Basically both MS and Sony say that players on console are not allowed to send over a determined network packet size of information.
The dev team then explained that because the information on infantry movement, kills/deaths destruction updates and vehicle movement (apparently a really big one) need to be sent by and to all players they are pushing the max packet size allowed to be sent over the network by MS and Sony. PCs do not have this as a consideration.
If MAG was able to get 256 players all in then they must have been giving up a little bit on something, character model graphics, environments graphics, sound, maybe just a lack of destruction updates is enough, I dunno?
I’m not sure what technical magic they pulled, maybe it’s just immediate vicinity updates you are sending and receiving, or more likely since Sony was the publisher they are allowed to bend their own network packet limited rules... it wouldn’t be out with the realms of possibilities that this is what they did do to try and have the ‘best’ console FPS with them owning the developer and them also having sole publishing rights?
