Washington Post: Wii comes to Thanksgiving, PS3 locked up

Nov 25th 2006 12:07PM (Joystiq)
How mightily I laugh when I hear those words "true gaming begins with great graphics". No it doesn't. A game, is a game, is a game. Some are great games, some are shit. True gaming doesn't begin with more powerful consoles. It begins with well written, fun, entertaining, novel and interesting games. It has fuck all to with the size of your electronic penis. Get over the fact you may have the most powerful console on the planet. If you think that what "true gaming" is, you have no-knob.

A Wii Thanksgiving test on the family: Part 2

It seems to me that those who claim to be "gamers" and knock the wii are running scared because its removing the barriers to the world of "gamers".

No longer does being a "gamer" justify having no social skills and sitting alone in a bedroom staring at a screen for hour upon hour. If being a "true gamer" means just that, then you better consider getting a shrink, as you obviously have serious issues.

When mom an pop are now "gamers", you might as well end it now you sad, sad, pathetic worm.

Correction.

"I could build you a gaming PC for the same price that knocks seven shades of shit out the PS3 in the "NEXT GEN" stakes. Just because I don't have to include a Blu-Ray drive."

Was what I meant to say.

I actually believe the journalist. He would have put down food + drinks as expenses for the article. As he doesn't play games all the time, he probably actually socialises with other people. It would have been a great laugh having your friends over to play computer games on the latest consoles whilst getting paid for it. It wouldn't be something you want to make up, it would be something you would like to do.

Remember that even if you like to see yourself as some hardcore "gamer" you weren't born like that. Personally I would prefer the opinions as non-gamers as they probably don't have the compulsion to be a fanboy as the true "gamer". I also think non-gamers have a more rounded and realistic idea of what fun is. (Believe it or not gamers, there is much more fun to be had actually socialising with real live people doing group activities then sat in isolation staring at a screen - no matter how good the game)

I can understand sticking up for your local football team or even your favourite rock band. I cannot understand what drives fanboys to defend against all reason and logic what is basically an electronic device. Give it up.

Sony only have themselves to blame. They could have released the PS3 at the same time as the XBOX360, in greater numbers, with less of a failure rate, and a lot cheaper. All because they HAD to include Blu-Ray. Not so that you the "GAMER" has a better experience. No, just so they have more numbers in the next gen DVD format war. Your being used and still you stick up for sony. I could build you a gaming PC for the same price that knocks seven shades of shit out the XBOX360 in the "NEXT GEN" stakes. Just because I don't have to include a Blu-Ray drive. Although I can throw in a x16 speed dual layer DVD writer for peanuts.

The WII does look like fun, and the 360 has better online experience for the true "gamer". Both have targeted their markets and don't compete against each other. Sony is using people to fund their next gen war. I hope they suffer for it.

Metareview - Gothic 3

Dejital

There are bugs in Oblivion where it drops to the desktop whilst you are moving in the woods, casting a healing spell, and a NPC decides to attack at the same time. I would call that a pretty serious bug. There are other serious bugs in Oblivion as well. It is no bed of roses.

What about the general atmosphere in Oblivion. Necromancers everywhere. The Emporer has been murdered. The gates of Oblivion have risen. Doom is upon us. Not to the folk of Oblivion. Overhear their conversations and they are still talking about how disgusted they are about seeing bloody Mud crabs. Perhaps they are living in denial. It ruins the immersion.

And don't get me started about how pitiful the carrying capacity in Oblivion is. I mean, WTF. I go into a dungeon and i'm consciously worrying about how many Shears and Callipers I have to sell at 1 gold each. Fast travelling back and forward to a dungeon isn't my idea of fun.

I think Gamespy are being too harsh with their score. Seems like a re-run of the 1up episode. Besides, who really gives a **** about what reviews say anymore. I always go with the user average score, as this is more realistic, and done by people not getting paid for it.
Because I assure you, if I was getting paid to review games for a living, I would certainly give them different scores. Mainly because I don't have to ****ing pay for them in the first place.

Phew, rant over.

Anything goes (so long proprietary peripherals) (PS3 delight #002)

Fair enough Sony wants everyone to go Blu-Ray, but if MS win then EVERYTHING will be MS-Format. Gamepads, "Media Centre" remotes, etc, etc. Because MS are the worst for demanding everyone adopts their standards whilst ignoring those already established. I hate MS, purely because of this reason. I hate Sony as well, but after learning this fact, I am warming to them. I want Sony to Win the Next Gen war. Any MS fanboys disagree and will kick shit out of you. Period.

Graphics for dummies: PS3 vs. Xbox 360

Nov 15th 2006 3:20PM (Joystiq)
Whilst your all arguing that 'next gen' is the biz, please remember that my PC with its Intel Quad Core and dual ati 8800's can emulate both the XBOX360 and the PS3 at the SAME TIME. Yet the games are still shit. Think about that next time you slag off the wii.

Cnet editors like PS3 most; Cnet users like Wii most

@26, Nick, I have read that article. Have you read the comments on the article by other users. The guy who wrote the article who is clearly pro-xbox 360 doesnt even know what the difference between core and processor is. Don't be so gullible Nick.

Why is it that some people are so idiotic that they immediately equate next gen to better than last gen. It doesnt always work that way. Sure, it has more POTENTIAL to be better than last gen, but shit doesnt always work that way. Never take something as a given merely because its version x+1. Ask Atari about that, and Sega...
