As someone who has been playing both console and PC consistently for nearly a decade, let me say that PC games are "better" in terms, of graphics and control.
That is really all it wins in. However, the simplicity of gathering millions through an inexpensive simplistic consoles has created a much more mainstream way for people to get into gaming, which I think is a great thing all around.
No need to cry about. I buy COD on XBOX because I know lots of people/friends will buy it and it will be trashy and fun. I buy Battlefield for PC because the depth and richness of Frostbite is best experienced on a PC where I can fully appreciate all the detail.
Either way it will be great on both so no need to fight. The reason why I will certainly be buying it for PC is just server population. The most important thing to keep in mind is that COD and Counterstrike are designed as SMALL TACTICAL SQUAD based shooters. the BF Franchise is about creating LARGE REALISTIC WARLIKE battles. So if PC offers me 64 players and console only 32 or 40 I personally think the full battlefield experience will be missed
Empire was amazing just in the leap from medieval as far as graphics, physics and GUI upgrades. But line infantry musket combat is (in a video game relatively boring).
I would love to see all the new graphics/GUI/physics updates applied to a combat system of range, cavalry and infantry much like medieval, which is what i think and hope shogun 2 will be war.
run, aim, shoot, pick up guns, dont die. Not mention there were more than 100 guns and 50 levels. 5 difficulties made it so grinding for guns was important if you were into the game.
Like you have heard from so many others, I literally cannot describe how DAoC makes me feel. I have fond memories of it the way I do of precious moments with families and friends in my life. And understand this is not because I am a complete nerd, but this game was more magnificent than words can do justice.
I played since launch and the game was truly amazing. Its PVE was inviting and groups were plentiful. When Shrouded Isles was released they opened a whole new depth of PVE and some serious raiding possibilities for those who were interested (Caer Sidi and AC Dragon - I was an Alb). Then came the ToA expansion. For many I saw the issues of needing grinded gear to compete, however I can say for certain that player crafted gear was almost 80% of the time better. But the grind was still there and the Master Level system became mandatory (a cleric cannot NOT have Font of Power). Either way I did not find this grounds for leaving, it encouraged large ML raids and guilds to work together to get people artifacts which i sincerely enjoyed.
And then there is the PVP or RVR. Literally no component in my near 30 years of gaming has ever been as amazing or emotional as DAoC RvR. First off an important thing, there are 3 teams which is hugely important. You weren't just good or bad; the first thing you decided is which team you wanted to fight for, who did you feel an affinity for?
The actual PVP itself was just unreal. You had so many options. Did you want to wander alone and risk certain death? Do you and a few friends want to slink around peoples castles and assassinate loan prey? Did you want to join your large rallying army to raid an enemy land to steal relics? Or did you think you were prestigious enough to run an elite 8 man and be revered and terrified in the community (I promise: there are hundreds of people out there that right now know and remember Guilds and even individuals that when they saw there Deathspam in RVR they got on edge and even nervous).
I yearn for a new game that can even come close to matching the sheer passion and excitement that I felt for that game.
