And here we see WoW trolls that dont know shit about anything outside of their one dumb game. Since when have you been able to but a marker anywhere on the world map that will stay there for everyone in your group to see until you remove it? Since when with one click could you loot 20 dead mobs with one click? Since when have you been able to do something with a bunch of people and everyone gets their own loot including gear and other items without any rolls? Sorry i shorthanded some of that stuff cause i thought you guys would at least have a cursory knowledge of things outside your blinding love for WoW. Since it's obvious by your posts that none of you have ever even tried Rift you're going to have to shutup cause you have no clue what you're even talking about. As for "ooo there's another rift", name me one really new thing that WoW has added to the game that wasn't there since the beginning of MMO's. Rift has everything that WoW has plus rifts, invasions, footholds, and epic world events all happenning around the clock. Why would you turn down extra NEW content? I play both games unlike you uninformed noobs so let me spell it out for you Rift>WoW.
Yeah thats real new. It's "new" like arena and bg countdowns and the other stuff they are quickly copying off of Rift. I'm fine with them improving the game but it's not new, just new to them. You can expect a lot of other "new" stuff like group map pinging, group looting, single click looting, and generally being a more responsive player friendly company now that they have to. That's the great thing about a little competition it makes everyone better.
Pretty much exactly the response I expected. Well done.
But seriously, I play WoW. I enjoy WoW. However, I am not such a fanboy that I can't see it's flaws and also its imminent demise. As far as content goes, the next patch isn't really content. It's two dungeons that I'll be done with the first night they come out. The real content patch won't be out till Sept. or Oct. at least. This means that despite the promise of more content coming out faster in this expansion we are going to wait about 10 months for the first content patch. Many guilds, including mine, have been done with this content for months. Meaning we will have had to wait approx. 7-8 months before something interesting happens in WoW. So we picked up Rift and found out it has a lot to offer. Not the least of which is the fact that it is a new game built on a new engine that runs extremely smoothly. As opposed to WoW that runs on a 10 year old engine that they have to bandaid to death to even keep it running. Which in turn makes it run poorly.
But don't believe me that WoW is coming to the last 2 years of its relevance. Take it from Blizzard. Why do you think they are working on "Titan" so hard? Because they know that WoW, its servers and its software, can't compete forever with new games that are coming out. I'm not saying Rift is going to be a WoW killer. But unlike all the previous MMOs that you mentioned that have come out and relatively failed, this game is not coming out during WoWs heyday. This game (and guild wars 2 eventually) is coming out after WOTLK that was pretty much unanimously the worst expansion for WoW. It's coming out during a dead time of the new expansion. Its coming out at a time when WoW is starting to show its age and its vulnerability.
Don't get me wrong I'm sure WoW will be around for another decade at least. And it will be the big kid on the block at least until Titan releases. But it won't last forever. And for those of you who just played the beta or haven't even tried it, Rift is better then you think. And more importantly Trion Worlds listens to its fans and approaches their game with a much differant attitude then Blizzard. And you can argue till you are blue in the face, but we all know that Blizzards response time to problems and their attitude towards WoW players has never been their strong point.
My advice is to broaden your horizons. Having more then one good MMO isn't a bad thing for us gamers. It's awesome.
