Final Fantasy IV: The After Years coming to Wii

Feb 27th 2009 4:18PM (Joystiq)
Yeah, I looked it up. Never played anything but the SNES version either.

** SPOILER ALERT **
Palom & Porom. Revived later by the old guy in Mysidia.
Yang. In a cave, chilling with the slyphs. He leaves later too I think.
Rydia. This one's obvious.
Edward. Survives. I believe he spends his time recovering in that castle run by women.
Tellah. Dead.
FuSoYa. Survives the incident with Zemus.
Golbez (if he counts). Survives the incident with Zemus.
Cid. Survives, he's in the castle with the dwarves.

A bunch of them show up later in the battle with that giant. Not sure if it's affected by whether or not you do their sidequests though. A lot of NPCs die.

Final Fantasy IV: The After Years coming to Wii

I call BS Joystiq, only one hero actually dies. The rest all survive. Here I was so impressed by the sacrifices of my teammates, only to find them in a cave somewhere.

If you're gonna bring the bad guy(s) and NPCs into play, then other FFs are waaaay worse.

Metal Gear Solid Touch trailer relives classic MGS4 moments

Feb 24th 2009 5:05PM (Joystiq)
You're kidding right? It's obviously made up of prerendered images. It's not top notch, MGS4 was top notch, this game is just getting to pick at the remains.

I still want it though...

Turn your iPhone into an iOcarina with new app

Nov 8th 2008 3:50PM (Joystiq)
Hey... you never used the Ocarina of Time to travel seven years into the future! It was the pulling of the Master Sword that aged you seven years! Playing the Song of Time on the Ocarina of Time was only used to open the door to the Master Sword in the Temple of Time.

Get your facts straight Joystiq! I thought you were journalists! Do some journaling!

Metroid Week: A browser game mash-up

Aug 29th 2007 9:06PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Hey! I made that game and you're not linking to my site. That makes me a sad panda. Why sess anyway? I didn't even put the sequel there, Newgrounds is the both game's home away from home. Ah well.

Also, #1, you're full of it. And #2, you're totally right.

Playing Dirty: The queer hero

Jan 4th 2007 1:56PM (Joystiq)
Come on! Leave it to bloggers to deeply look into the possible homosexual undertones in a Resident Evil game. Is this a slow news day or what?

Japanese heros are just a nudge above being gay half the time, so don't think about it too hard without questioning human sexuality in general. There'll be a day where there's a gay hero, but that day isn't really here yet because nobody cares. It's about the gameplay, remember?

Defcon dev announces new game: Subversion

Shouldn't it be open-source? Will they have a prequel called Concurrent Versions System?

Nintendo to replace 3.2 million Wii straps [update 1]

Dec 15th 2006 2:24PM (Joystiq)
Guys? Am I the only one who noticed it's not a recall? It's a free replacement.

In a recall they take all the broken stuff back in and fix/replace it, usually to avoid or comply with a lawsuit.

In this situation they're simply mailing free wriststraps to anyone with a valid Wii product key. They probably wouldn't be sued and not many people have actually broken their strap anyway.

Not really the same thing.

Game show contestant nun knows GTA better than Ms. Pac-man

Nov 14th 2006 9:49AM (Joystiq)
She's practically guilty of all the seven deadly sins.

Wrath - Watch her take out her revenge on the ghosts when they turn blue.
Greed - She runs around constantly collecting dots, as if it were her only purpose.
Gluttony - She eats everything, including dots, ghosts and food.
Lust - Remember those cutscenes in Ms Pac-Man? They'd be X-rated if that machine had the processing power.
Sloth - She can't be bothered to move herself around, instead requiring someone else to control her movements.
Envy - She may be married to Pac-Man, but she created Ms. Pac-Man purely out of spite.
Pride - In an all-out eating frenzy, where she loses herself to madness and depravity, she still wears a bow.
