"Victory in world vs. world grants a server-wide bonus called Power of the Mists"
If it were just a bonus for the winning side in the WvWvW instance, it'd be fine. But having it affect the rest of the server? No. That is not good. For every server that gets this bonus, that means two servers do not.
Having the minority PvP population (and they WILL be a minority - they always are in hybrid MMORPGs) determine whether or not the majority gets or doesn't get the bonus is just not right. It wasn't right in GW1 (where the Kurzick/Luxon border's position is determined by Alliance Battle wins) and it's not right here. Unlike in GW1, where you can just go Luxon now that the border is pretty much permanently fixed in their favor, if the server you're on ends up losing WvWvW regularly, your only recourse is to pay real money to buy a transfer. This is not right.
"The second is a new-to-the-franchise PvP system called World vs. World, which pits server communities against each other in colossal but casual, multi-week campaigns that provide bonuses to all players in that world."
Oh, and that is REALLY going to suck. Instanced PvP (as opposed to open-world PvP) should *NEVER* be allowed to affect the rest of the game under any circumstances. :/
"I'm not allowed to discuss what I saw of the beta version of Guild Wars 2's cash shop just yet"
That's never a good sign, to be specifically forbidden to talk about something. Almost certainly means there will be some VERY unpleasant surprises connected to it that will likely end up with the response "We didn't realize players wouldn't like it, but it would be impossible to change now". :(
At this point, there is nothing UbiSoft could do (without resorting to deception to hide their involvement) to ever get my money again. (Ditto for Sony, EA, and Activision)
There should be no more than 2 expansions after MoP, at the current level cap rate of increase. One to bring to 95, then one to bring to level 100 - with the latter being the final expansion because level 100 is a nice, round number to fight Sargeras (ie, the one behind pretty much EVERYTHING that's happened to Azeroth) in the flesh and destroy him once and for all.
@(Unverified) Current beta event is, apparently, a stress test and an actual beta where they'll be wanting to be notified of bugs and such, hence the NDA requirement. The Beta Weekend Events are just for marketing purposes (the hype is going to be EXTREME because of it) and won't be covered by an NDA.
Browserquest: an MMO tech demo made to work in browsers everywhere
Mar 29th 2012 8:34AM (Joystiq)"...intended to show off WebSockets, a technology that allows constant communication between your browser and a server online."
That is something I definitely don't want to have built into my Web browser.
