Cowon's iAudio U5 heads to America

Jan 11th 2008 9:31PM (Engadget)
Okay, so there's no video or photo viewing according to what I can (or can't) find in the specs and manual. Those in themselves are not a big problem, but I really don't get what's the point of paying the premium for such a huge screen if just to look at what track I'm listening to. I really think they bombed big time on this one, in their rush to cash in on the trend toward large screens in DAPs but totally ignoring their purpose!

Teen hacks tram system, derails trains

Haha the screens prank was the first thing that popped into my mind when I saw "innocent prank" in quotation marks. With that, and them admitting to Veronica's supreme beauty on their own blog, it's pretty clear Engadget's the one that's totally whopping ass right now ;-)

Final Fantasy narrowly avoids drug endorsement

Mar 12th 2007 6:16AM (Joystiq)
This is an attempt to prey on either drug addictions (misspelling) or sex addictions (correct spelling). Either way, the Squenix folks certainly know how to prey on RPGers' weaknesses.

LocoRoco joins The Best in Japan

The outlandish price has always been the biggest impediment for me getting Loco. At least now the Japanese have seen that hurdle removed.

PSP hardware shipments plummet, software up slightly

Feb 1st 2007 2:30PM (Joystiq)
"3. The homebrew apps own any official psp release. I'll get a psp one day, when its crazy cheap. No doubt, I want to emulate all my fave shit. PSP is the only thing out that can do it well."

Well yah, I'm pretty sure if all you're doing on the thing is emulation, then Sony would be more than eager to pull the plug before it hits the price point that you'd want to buy at.

Proudest PSP gaming achievement [Update 1]

Jan 26th 2007 3:36PM (Joystiq Playstation)
At the end, beating Lumines got easier than expected, but the moment of getting every skin was still quite satisfying nonetheless.

After that, though, I added insult to injury by filling the high scores with 999999s. ;-)

But now that I'm on Lumines II I'm finding getting the final few skins will probably destroy many neurons... ...the game IS harder, but partly because the blocks are harder to see, which is a pretty bad and cheap way of improving game difficulty.

PSP: rated M for Mature

Jan 23rd 2007 4:00PM (Joystiq Playstation)
In a sense, this illustrates the primary problem with PSP games: a lack of games designed to be played in "portable" situations. Most games that involve "sexual themes" and "strong language" will have a relatively submersive environment that is better played sitting down in a long session, rather than in bits of less than an hour. The blood and violence, I suppose, can be a part of a fast-playing fighting game, but I don't think the high number of M-rated games is overwhelmingly due to fighters.

For example: you can't make Lumines M-rated, unless you add some gratuitous game-unrelated crap.

Final Fantasy Tactics screenshots

Jan 20th 2007 8:24PM (Joystiq Playstation)
I think Tactics may be the one I'm most curious about (even more than CC), since the gameplay is so different. The graphics are satisfactory, but I would like to see something that would be a bit more demanding on the PSP's graphics capabilities. But it seems that SE's portable plans are to really polish up the look for one product and to not to go too hard on the graphics on the other offerings: for the DS it'd be FF3 and for PSP it'd be FF7:CC. Even Reverant Wings looks pretty ho-hum graphics-wise, from what I see on the SE JP website.

Doesn't really matter though, as long as the game is fun.
