Animal Crossing boxart warms our cold, cold hearts

Sep 4th 2008 6:20PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
You know what would have been brilliant?? If a form of Animal Crossing was integrated into the Wii system itself from the start, a la Miis, or Playstation Home. I think it could have been a real interesting feature for the system.

But as it is, this version of AC seems like just another repeat.

I think Tom Nook should count. My vote goes to Tom Nook.

Deceptively new scans of Animal Crossing

Yeah. Not feeling this so much. Just totally disappointed.

How could they think this is enough? I want a NEW Animal Crossing game, not a repeat! And why'd it take so long to get here??

That picture is supremely frightening.

Latest Nintendo Power dishes out new Animal Crossing details, including DS-to-Wii functionality

I was so looking forward to Animal Crossing Wii. I had fun with the DS version, but I couldn't wait to see the concept taken to the next level. But I feel let down at how similar the Wii version looks.

In the year 20XX, Capcom might release more Mega Man

Aug 13th 2008 7:56PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Mega Man 9's gonna do great, but I'm not sure people will be interested in a bunch of 8-bit sequels... It's going to get boring quickly. Capcom shouldn't be surprised if interest wanes after an 8-bit Mega Man 10.

It was the number the spinoffs that was hurting the series (a la Sonic), not the advancements in technology. Perhaps Mega Man 9 will help bring the series back to its roots. Personally, I would rather see something in the style of the DS Castlevanias and Contra than an outright 8-bit emulation. Go back to the original concept, give it beautiful updated, 2-D graphics, and the best gameplay the system has to offer.

Wii Warm Up: Mega Movement

Jul 25th 2008 1:07PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I'm nonplussed by the new Megaman's style. I love the fact that they're going back to old school 2-D gameplay, but there's little reason for me to get excited about NES graphics. For one, I haven't even had the patience to sit through Megaman 4, 5, or 6!

I like how the DS has brought back 2-D gaming but with a modern polish. Games like any of the Castlevania DS games or New Super Mario Bros strike the perfect balance, if you ask me.

Igarashi favors Xbox 360 for next Castlevania

Sep 11th 2007 1:47PM (Joystiq)
That whole "Nintendo dominates their own system's game sales" drives me crazy! If it's at all true, it's only because Nintendo's the only one who MAKES any good games for their own systems- except for the DS, of course, and Mr. Igarashi's planning on another one of those, isn't he?

A good, solid Castlevania game would do extremely well on the Wii! Nintendo fans love Castlevania. Then again, there hasn't been a good 3D Castlevania yet.

Wii Warm Up: Let's talk graphics

May 3rd 2007 1:28PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I actually like the look of MySims. I don't think it's too simplistic at all. One of the better-looking games, despite being another overflowing with cuteness, is Dewey's Adventure.

One of the main reasons these games work for me is that they're about the use of color. I've been vocal about my dislike for the "greying of games" before. That's one of the reasons the XBOX 360 just doesn't appeal to me, despite being the most well rounded system out there. The XBox and PS3 can get away with a more grim color palette because they have the polygonal muscle and the high resolution for those games to still look sharp. But since the Wii's graphically underpowered, neutral colors can really make for some muddy texturing.

Doesn't excuse the developers from not even living up to the graphical standards of the Gamecube, though.

Lifesigns producer dissects the game

Who'dathunk virtual surgeries would become the latest craze? I have no idea about the actual game, but the screenshot resembles an online educational flash exhibit a former classmate of mine made back in 2003 or 4 (I helped on artwork).

If anyone's interested, it can be found at Edheads Virtual Knee Surgery:
