Aug 13th 2008 7:56PM (Joystiq Nintendo)It was the number the spinoffs that was hurting the series (a la Sonic), not the advancements in technology. Perhaps Mega Man 9 will help bring the series back to its roots. Personally, I would rather see something in the style of the DS Castlevanias and Contra than an outright 8-bit emulation. Go back to the original concept, give it beautiful updated, 2-D graphics, and the best gameplay the system has to offer.
Wii Warm Up: Mega Movement
Jul 25th 2008 1:07PM (Joystiq Nintendo)I like how the DS has brought back 2-D gaming but with a modern polish. Games like any of the Castlevania DS games or New Super Mario Bros strike the perfect balance, if you ask me.

Sep 11th 2007 1:47PM (Joystiq)A good, solid Castlevania game would do extremely well on the Wii! Nintendo fans love Castlevania. Then again, there hasn't been a good 3D Castlevania yet.
Wii Warm Up: Let's talk graphics
May 3rd 2007 1:28PM (Joystiq Nintendo)One of the main reasons these games work for me is that they're about the use of color. I've been vocal about my dislike for the "greying of games" before. That's one of the reasons the XBOX 360 just doesn't appeal to me, despite being the most well rounded system out there. The XBox and PS3 can get away with a more grim color palette because they have the polygonal muscle and the high resolution for those games to still look sharp. But since the Wii's graphically underpowered, neutral colors can really make for some muddy texturing.
Doesn't excuse the developers from not even living up to the graphical standards of the Gamecube, though.
