This story jives with the info I got from a Gamespot employee I ran into today in line for Taco John's. He said that they had initially been promised 8 PS3s, but he was just notified they are only getting 6. Now mulitply that by all of the retail locations that are getting PS3s for launch day and it could very well be over 100,000 less than what was promised.

He was bummed that he had to tell 2 of the people that preordered that they weren't getting theirs.
