Are you speaking about the same Japanese people I know? Because they would usually lower their standard of living, just to get a game system/game they want. I've seen it folks, it's crazy what they would do for a game. Of course, during these times in Japan, they have more to worry about than a video game.

What can you say about any MMO other than WoW? It's like a copy of WoW, why? Because WoW is just so good, everyone would like to get ideas from a product that's really one of the best out there. Same goes for TF2 and this. Nothing wrong about it, it actually looks pretty cool. It looks innovative.
