Beta Beat: iPhone/iPod touch Jailbreak Beta test announced

Oct 10th 2007 8:06PM (TUAW.com)
May I speak for the rest of us non-hacker types...and add to what dk has contributed.

How about all of these nerds accept the phone for what it is: a great device with many useful features that will gradually become even better--not through
the cat and mouse game that this hacking fiasco has become, but through continual software improvements that we can always rely on from Apple.

For goodness' sake, leave the phone alone, or buy a different device on an open platform! Not only have you polluted an otherwise useful blog, but you are delaying the updates by disrupting Apple's progress, I am sure of it. I am so very tired of reading
about the latest "state of the Jailbreak" from Erica Sadun.

For every aspiring rebel that champions the hacking cause (wannabe Apple programmers calling themselves a "dev" team--what a joke), the rest of us suffer as Apple works feverishly to close the latest loophole. That's so wasteful.

What killer apps can you not live without? If you want to play NES games that badly, get an emulator for your laptop. Better yet, get yourself an NES. While the FBI is not going to come crashing through your door (and that guy deserves ridicule for such outrageous claims), leave well enough alone. I have yet to see a cool/useful app that you guys have released, let alone one that you could keep on your phone for more than two weeks.

Bottom line: you idiots do more harm than good in the name of progress. Stop ruining the party for the rest of us.

Apple screwed you: So now what?

Sep 6th 2007 12:57PM (TUAW.com)
I see many people going on about a $100 refund or iTunes gift card as a "thank you" to those of us that dropped $599 this summer for the iPhone. What you people fail to realize is that amounts to almost $100 MILLION in lost profit at the iTunes Store. Companies don't thank their customers like that. They do, however, thank their shareholders by figuring out ways to increase profitability. Let's take this as a lesson: Apple is in business to make money. By lowering the price, they will (as the Steve says) put "a lot of iPhones in stockings this year." That translates into more profits, and more market share, the number one goal. Quit your whining and move on. Besides, you shouldn't buy gadgets if you are worried about reselling them.

For the past two months, I have enjoyed the following:
1. Having something to entertain me during those boring moments at the doctor's office or in the airport.
2. Being able to finally hear my phone ring in the car when my music was playing loudly.
3. Having a cell phone that doesn't completely suck (read: Palm, RIM).

Nano crushed by highway traffic

I did the same thing with a 5 month old black MacBook...flew off of the back of my car and sacrificed to the highway gods. I'll send you pictures if you want.

TUAW Back-to-School Giveaway Day Nine: iPod Shuffle

Apple iPod Shuffle + Long School Bus Ride = Not wanting to choke people

So, what'd you get?

Dec 29th 2006 9:54PM (Engadget)
Camped out for the Wii on launch day, then I was surprised with a PS3 60 GB and a new 30 GB iPod as well by my wife. I also consider myself lucky...with all three next-gen consoles, it's like friggin Aladdin's Castle in here. Happy New Year to everybody.

Louisiana guv signs JT-penned bill into law

Jun 17th 2006 11:30PM (Joystiq)
When the people of Louisiana collectively decided to put such an incompetent imbecile in the state capital, I too made a choice: to move to Texas. At least if a hurricane hits Houston, we can rely on public officials to adequately carry out the very tasks which they were ELECTED to perform. Blanco did great things as Lieutenant Governor of Louisiana, but unfortunately another inspired surge in tourism won't help rebuild New Orleans--nor will it save Louisiana from its downward spiral.

Shame on you, Jack Thompson, for taking advantage of the situation. May God SAVE Louisiana.

CoD2.1: The Big Red Whatever

Mar 23rd 2006 8:21PM (Joystiq Xbox)
GRAW is a game filled with your typical spawn killing morons(I regularly boot them or send them a Private Chat Request--it's quite gratifying to tell them how pathetic they are)...but who cares about customization for CoD2 if you can only put 8 people in the rooms? A day late? They are about 2 months too late to even bother with. I hope IW is listening to people tell them that they have failed; in the process they have shown everyone how great the Ubisoft team is by comparison.

Better luck next time, IW. You won't be getting my money.
