I haven't given up on consoles per se, but handheld gaming just fits my life better at the moment. To be honest, I am not missing time on the consoles much. There are so many great handheld titles available for cheap!

Thanks for the replies all. I am considering a PSP on the cheap to catch up on all the RPGs I missed. From what I understand the RPG library is substantial AND would not induce frustration with the lack of a second analogue stick.

Do PSP games look THAT much better on the Vita?

It is so good to have someone with Kat's knowledge writing about these types of games.

Regarding, SMT: DS2 - I believe there is an in game clock. Is this used as a reference - to help with the story arch and such or are you playing against it ala Dead Rising. I know some love it, but I HATE playing against a time limit. I need my thinking time!
