Guerrilla fixing Killzone 2 bugs, looking into control complaints

Mar 6th 2009 12:27PM (Joystiq Playstation)
to the people who don't understand the issues with the controls ... they just aren't very good. It's not the buttonmapping .. it's the response you get from the analog sticks. It's like touching the hottest woman alive while wearing gigantic rubber gloves. It's just hugely frustrating. When I press the stick a little ... it doesn't move. Just a little bit further and I'm already too far. I tried adjusting the sensitivity all over the place ... it just doesn't work. COD4 does this *MUCH* better. And NO it's not the button mapping ... it's the responsiveness.

Microsoft says Sony doesn't offer any online "service"

Nov 21st 2007 6:52AM (Joystiq Playstation)
Xbox Live is not a service. It's a ripoff. What exactly is this 'service' then anyway? Is it a service where they restrict developers to do cool and new stuff ... or perhaps a restriction where they won't allow developers to release content unless it's for money? Or is it perhaps a service where you can connect with one friend and have a live video and audio chat? I bet MS thinks of it as a service purely because they have subscribers who pay.

I'm a HUGE fan of PSN when compared to xbox live. If there is one reason to buy a PS3 over an x360 it's free online play. Imagine the ability to play any game you have anywhere online ... at any time. As long as you insert it in a PS3. How handy is that?!? With xbox live you have to retrieve your profile, make sure it's still gold .. if not transfer some money to microsoft. and then perhaps you might be able to play online.

It's also a complete rip-off how they disable popular downloads for silver subscribers .. i mean wtf? what's that about? they are deliberately slicing in the developer's target market just for their own gain? I'm sorry .. please all cool developers .. start developing for the PS3 and enjoy the advantages for many more years to come.

LittleBigPlanet cardboard robot boxing match

Aug 26th 2007 4:00AM (Joystiq Playstation)
andres It'll be available on Blu-Ray as well containing all the user created content yet up to that point. Or a selection of the better stuff. So I don't know what you are on about. And also, yes! A downloadable game can and will be a system seller. You know why? Because you have to have the system to play the game. Obviously :s Look at Geometry Wars for an example.

Vista will not support Blu-ray or HD DVD playback out-of-the-box or on most PCs

Aug 24th 2006 1:43PM (Engadget)
Pretty soon we will become slaves to giant corporations. You want to be able to play this disc? Oh well you'll have to sell your liver and your left pinky first. Then we'll negotiate a deal and perhaps if we still support that standard we'll let you buy it but you can't mess around with it. Sjeez ... where is this going to huh. Suddenly downloading H264 movies seems like a perfect solution to all of this extortion.

Will Xbox 360 games require HD-DVD add-on? [update 1]

Aug 17th 2006 5:03AM (Joystiq)
This IS going to happen. Content keeps getting bigger and easier to fabricate. HD TV's are getting CHEAP!! we are talking 850€ (that's something like 700$) for HD-ready LCD TV's. People will demand HD-games. I know I do.

Developers themselves will demand the possibility to use HD mediums to store their data since it takes a long time to fit everything on that single precious disk. And time is money for a developer.

Once the first true HD games start getting released by the Sony studios you will be able to see the difference between HD/BD and simple DVD. Using DVD for the Wii console on the other hand is obvious. The console isn't capable of doing HD graphics and doesn't need the space. For x360 and PS3 it's an entirely different matter. x360 & PS3 are getting advertised as true HD-consoles.

Sony continues to play defense over PS3 pricing, HDMI

May 11th 2006 1:04PM (Engadget)
okay this is getting rediculous. YES, it is lacking a HDMI port. The PS3 is still capable of outputting 1080p on an analog signal so what is the problem ? Oh, right .. you would like to watch 1080p on your 3000$ TV as well ? well then you can EASILY pay the extra 100$ asked for the HDMI. It's obvious that Sony is in some financial trouble at the moment. They make a loss on every console that's going to be sold, so why not support the manufacturer in stead of bitching about "oh noohz if I buy the cheap model I might not be able to watch Blu-Ray movies on my cheapo TV". If you are planning on watching movies you will probably buy a player dedicated to blu-ray playback and not some gameconsole that happens to be capable of doing the same thing (cuz of the noise probably .. I don't expect the console to run quietly). And yes, that includes an x360.

and @43... YES! it's a removeable internal hard-drive. learn to read.

anyway, support Sony, don't destroy it.

PS3 European pricing not what it seems

Apr 5th 2006 3:11PM (Joystiq)
It's a sad world for us europeans. But I think it's still an acceptible price to pay for a console that featurepacked. And I might just be one of the first owners mwuhahaha.

By the way did the XBox and PS2 realy launch for 299$ in the US? That's a fucking crime. That's a LOT less then normal taxes. Shouldn't stuff like this be prohibited or something ?

And AceMilo .. you don't appreciate art. If there was no Sony/nintendo your xbox wouldn't even exist. And sure ... some people just look at the price. But not me. And probably a whole lot of other people will.

Besides if cheap is what you want you will automatically buy the revolution wich will probably retail for around 200$.

Warhawk, MotorStorm, & other bootleg GDC PS3 videos

Apr 2nd 2006 6:31AM (Joystiq)
wow this is impressive! I'm so thrilled that we actually got to see the GDC movies. And c'mon people ... you'll have to admit that it's impressive. The point of these demo's is to let developers see what is possible. And what I have seen here today makes me drool. Imagine a game where you can blow up every car in high detail (the new GTA anyone ?). Or have ultra-realistic landscapes to explore. Or carphysics like the ones in motorstorm that react to the environment.

I for one can't wait for these games ... and the next generation for that.

By the way .. these demo's are not representations of the actual games. But the technology they use. Got it ? Because I think a lot of people don't get this :s

Current-gen console logos; take your pick

Feb 3rd 2006 6:08PM (Joystiq)
I own a xbox & a PS2. The PS2 logo isn't very inspirational but does the job. The xboxlogo looks rather stupid with the split up X. It's better then the PS2's however but the Gamecube has the smartest logo out there. Nicely designed and indeed timeless as someone mentioned before. I like it a lot. But honestly ... a logo doesn't matter when I buy a console. Because if it did I would have 2 gamecubes now.
