How Bulletstorm became 'the worst video game in the world'

Feb 9th 2011 3:33PM (Joystiq)
Well just the description makes it obvious that Bulletstorm is a shit game. Unable to create a compelling storyline they jump for the shock value which will wear out after about an hour of play time. The media jumps on this crap because they have 24 hours a day to fill and there is only so many times we'll watch the same footage of Molotov cocktails being tossed around Egypt.

Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences' annual Pioneer Award going to Bill Budge

I had it on my Atari 800. I could have sworn it looked more impressive than this? I guess it did....Then.

Riccitiello says this is the year digital overtakes retail

Jan 9th 2011 12:44PM (Joystiq)
True, it never said retail was going away but I imagine as far as items that need not be physical it will happen. Music/films/games and so on will just be done by digital download. Not sure when this will happen but I'm guessing sooner than we realize. What did you expect? I'm sure you all own MP3 players, digital cameras and have high speed internet. We've done this to ourselves but when it suddenly is going to trample something you like you get all up in arms about it. TOO BAD you don't have a say in it. Sure you can boycott it but unless everyone else does they won't be missing your $60. I would rather they go digital instead of jacking the prices up on physical copies. The next step is $70 and I bet it happens sooner than it took games to jump from $50 to $60.
I guess if we need to keep buying oil from our enemies in order to make the plastic cases for your stupid games then that's ok? Holding a game disc in your hand still excites you? That's like being excited about holding a fork! It's a plastic disc with data on it! There is nothing interesting or cool about it.
Now as a 360 owner with only a 20 gig HD I hope it happens a little later than this gen. I don;t have room for one full game anymore let alone my whole game library.

Report: Industry missing out on revenue from aging, disabled gamers

May 18th 2010 12:20AM (Joystiq)
Next time you think these companies don't care about gamers remember this article. You're right, THEY DON'T. It's obvious from the article the ONLY reason they should consider catering to older and or disabled gamers is for the income and NOT because they would like to make gaming accesible for the disabled. They'll make a mouth controlled gaming pad WHEN they belive there is a market for it. The disturbing part is they are probably planning on cashing in on returning disabled vets as we speak.

Peripheral Vision: X Scorch 360 split mouse controller

Apr 25th 2010 9:46AM (Joystiq)
I have no comment on the controller itself but I must say I am so tired of these lousy video reviews. GET A TRIPOD PEOPLE! Also do we always have to spend 2 minutes looking at the packaging? Do I need to see a long pan along the full length of the USB cable? It takes way more than just pressing record and running off at the mouth to make one of these watchable. I do appreciate the attempt but it's not that hard to make it decent. Oh and background music isn't needed AT ALL no matter how awesome YOU think the tune is.

PSA: Last weekend to play Xbox 1 games on Live

Apr 11th 2010 7:58PM (Joystiq)
I wouldn't mind much (and I really don't anyway) if they would give us some concrete examples of how doing this will REALLY improve LIVE on 360. More friends is not enough of a reason for me. I've been on since the BETA for LIVE and I maintain about 26 friends at anytime. I also used the emblems that told you what people had a 360 and which ones didn't to eliminate friends. Then you have people who pay for about three months then vanish. I don't need or want 100+ friends on my list.

Blockbuster weighs games-by-mail, Netflix dismisses it

Apr 10th 2010 2:22AM (Joystiq)
JERRY! I was going to visit your site and give you loads of my money until you insulted black and white films along with subtitled (that's the word you were looking for dumbass) and silent films. That's real good business sense to knock something while you're trying to sell something. Stupid Blockbuster fanboys have no business trying to be in business.

Video tour: Game Room

Mar 24th 2010 8:21PM (Joystiq)
I can only assume that for now at least MS is aiming this at my age bracket. I grew up in arcades with these games and enjoyed them at the time. Hell I still enjoy a few of them now. I also recall bitching when games back then went up to 50 cents. Why are these 50cents MS? It's not like you're paying rent on a building to house the arcade in. I can understand why they are not free. Everyone thinks since these games are old or available in MAME versions they should be free. I don't even have a problem with the price you charge to own them. It would be nice if the arcade version of Scramble I bought years back would work with this. I don't think I should have to buy it twice. What I do have a problem with is how LAME it is. You just hop from cabinet to cabinet while avatars of friends wander around (even though they are playing COD) and get to do nothing really. Do you think I am dumb enough to think SNIPAKILLA420 is in my arcade just because I see his avatar? I see me getting this crap off my hard drive momentarily.
