There wasn't anything cheap about Arthur in that video... The other guy just kept walking into his attacks like a dummy and every hit landed on Arthur was NEVER followed up with a combo. Then his opponent was doing random supers for no reason... that's probably why he got his but stomped by random projectiles. That character is easily tolerable.
@False Well, this guy definitely said he wasn't a novice.
If you want a review that actually discusses what this game has to offer for novices go check out IGN's or Destructoid's previews of this game. They actually go in depth explaining what "simple" mode does and what it offers new players.
This is just a poorly written preview. Period. Don't be a tool.
Actually, a lot of people have. Capcom has hosted fight nights throughout the past year in major cities throughout America letting people play MVC3. They are actually showing of the game tonight in Las Vegas.
I got to play it in Atlanta, GA when they hosted the event there.
This preview is not very well written and the author clearly shows that his knowledge of fighting games only goes as far as the "Curleh Mustache" meme:
-The video shows you guys clearly don't have a basic understanding of the game at all... I played this game in Atlanta, GA at a Capcom event and it was easy to get into. Not as slow as Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, but not as fast as MVC2. The speed for this games works perfectly and it moves PLENTY fast when you're actually doing real combos.
- You talk about how MVC2 was balanced when anyone who plays that game knows that there are about 5 or 6 characters out of the 56 playable ones that are viable for moderate level play. MVC2 is KNOWN for being a broken game and for you to say otherwise just discredited you write-up on this game.
-To say a fighting game is unbalanced because YOU don't know how to defend against certain attacks or tactics discredits your preview yet again. It takes weeks, sometimes even months, to figure out what the balance of a game is really like after the game's been released to the public.
- Then to talk about throwing away all technical knowledge accrued over the years from playing fighting games is just ridiculous. Fighting games aren't meant to play the same. Why would I bring my skills from Super Street Fighter IV, BlazBlue, or Tekken 6 to MVC3 when none of those games play the same and all of them have different fighting mechanics?
This article probably wouldn't have bothered me so much if you didn't come off like you knew what you were talking about when it came to MVC2 and fighting games in general.

Good previews:
This guy talks about the actual mechanics of the game instead of blowing hot air and making stuff up.

And this one has a gives a VERY good explanation of the "Simple" mode controls.
