CA police pull drivers over, give them free coffee

Dec 18th 2007 5:35PM (Autoblog)
I would rather skip the $5 in free coffee in exchange for sparing me the stress and panic of seeing flashing lights in the rear-view mirror when I haven't done anything wrong.

Heck, maybe they could cuff me and take me down to the station, where they could surprise me with a cake and a hearty rendition of "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow."

Dear Santa Steve: Newton, Rentals and a Consumer Tower please

"Ah hahhh. Therein lies the problem. Erica doesn't grasp the Apple concept or its decades old ethos and hankers after the total enjoyment that is a PC." - James

Sorry James, but I used to appreciate being able to add cards, drives, etc. to my *affordable* Power Mac.

I really miss the days of the $1,200 Power Mac. Your product line has a huge hole in it Apple. Please fill it with an affordable, expandable tower.

Upcoming FireWire spec revs things up to 3.2Gbps

Jon Doe, *you* are a fanboi tool.

Let me repeat what Eric said:

"They're also largely responsible for the mass-use of USB."

He didn't say Apple was the *first* to use USB. Reading is fundamental.

And the first iMac, which boldly dumped older technologies and went with USB exclusively, is widely credited for the rapid acceleration of USB's acceptance in the consumer computing market.

Think, *then* rant.

Spy Shots: 2009 Chevrolet Camaro spied in Australia

Dec 11th 2007 1:37PM (Autoblog)
Can Chevy somehow refrain from destroying this car when they take it to production like Ford did with the Mustang?

The production Mustang is a sad, cheap imitation of the concept I saw at the LA Auto Show and drooled over (and would have bought if it had materialized in production - it didn't). I'm hoping GM can do better (though GM's history on this is not confidence-inspiring).

Panic releases Transmit 3.6.3

Dec 7th 2007 10:16PM (TUAW.com)
There are still Amazon S3 issues. Hopefully Panic will address these, and soon, as I'd like to use Transmit for my S3 backups.

Take a CandyBar 3 video tour

Nov 30th 2007 1:08PM (TUAW.com)
I love Panic and CandyBar looks great, but isn't $29 about 2x too expensive for something like this?

AT&T's Stephenson: 3G iPhone

Throw in a GPS chip, and I'll be sporting a new iPhone while my wife gets my old one. :)

Zune users complain of fast-draining battery with latest firmware

@ Carbonize

"IE is not that bad a browser specially when compared with Safari"

I'd love to hear your rationale behind this point.

"IE is available for the mac even if the mac version is crap"

And 5-year-old crap to boot. IE for Mac is dead and worthless - considering it "available" is silly. No one uses it, and no one should.

TiVo coming to PC via Nero software

Nov 28th 2007 10:33AM (Engadget)
Better make yourselves comfortable. How long ago did they announce that Comcast would be using TiVo software on their DVR boxes? Two years? I'm still waiting for this to actually happen.

TiVo loves to throw out announcements and then take their good, sweet time bringing them to fruition.
