Cinematical Seven: Unconventional Holiday Movies

Dec 18th 2008 11:56PM (Cinematical)
Just watched my "guilty pleasure" holiday movie: Friday After Next.

Turrican remake released, rocks you like a Hurrican

Jun 25th 2007 8:01PM (Joystiq)
I remember playing Turrican on my Amiga 2000. It was an awesome game that changed the way I played platform shooters.

Zuxxez: Two Worlds deeper than Oblivion

Jun 12th 2007 4:55PM (Joystiq Xbox)
I really, REALLY wanted to like this game, but I'm with #4. While I did, indeed, like the richly detailed world (a la Oblivion), I absolutely HATED the English dialog and voice acting. There were smaller quirks in the Euro release that I hope were addressed in the US version, but none as egregious as the dialog. Unless that's been fixed, I'll toss this disc on the same pile with Gothic 3.

Microsoft defends Pac-Man CE pricing

This is the first "retro game revamp" that I've enjoyed in years. It's a totally new game. The gameplay is very different (and much more fast-paced) than the arcade original. It's truly a sequel and not a port.

Cripes, when will the XBLA point whining end?! This ain't no horse armor, folks.

Joystiq White Friday giveaway: Lost Planet codes [update 1]

Nov 24th 2006 3:36PM (Joystiq)
After my in-laws were done fighting, we had a traditional (boring) Thanksgiving dinner. Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and steamed broccoli. My wife made an apple pie, and my mother-in-law made a pumpkin pie.

If it gives me extra points (ha-ha!), this was nothing in comparison to the Tex-Mex turkey day meal my mother-in-law made a few years ago. My wife's 80 year-old grandma was appalled at the sight of chicken enchiladas, cornbread, and empanadas. She mumbled under her breath while eating a salad, and the rest of us enjoyed the spicy dinner. I guess not everyone in Pennsylvania has south of the border taste buds. :-)

Guilty Pleasures: Deep Rising

100% agreed! I remember reading about DR in the horror rags in the late 90's, and I wasn't disappointed when the film was finally released. Treat does a fantastic job, and Famke is yummy-hot, bad-ass. The story has as many jolts as a weak 1960's b-movie, but I think that fans gravitate to the performances more than anything else.

The 10 worst launch titles

Nov 16th 2006 11:55AM (Joystiq)
Seanbaby haters unite! Altered Beast definitely does not belong on the list. PDZ was not the Halo-killer it was hyped to be, but it also utter crap.

How about Combat for the Atari 2600?!
