ESPN 2.0 on Xbox Live features improved guide, stats feed and more

Jul 27th 2011 3:27PM (Joystiq)
@Thiago123

I used a code from there a few weeks ago and it worked for about 3 days, but then they locked me out and shut down the page. Now that the page is back up, I've grabbed about 50 codes just in case ;)

ESPN 2.0 on Xbox Live features improved guide, stats feed and more

Jul 27th 2011 1:53PM (Joystiq)
@chimpotle I'm hoping that it not only works, but that they include ESPN Networks support.

For those who don't know, Time Warner and Bright House subscribers haven't been able to get ESPN on Xbox LIVE but we can get ESPN3.com. We also have access to espnnetworks.com, which streams content from 4 ESPN channels (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, and ESPN Buzzer Beater).

If they bake ESPN Networks support into this 2.0 release, I'll forgive not being able to use ESPN on my Xbox for the last 8 months.

Also, if you want access RIGHT NOW to ESPN on Xbox LIVE via Time Warner, you may want to take a look at this page...

Rumor: Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 to be announced at Comic-Con [update: it's official]

Jul 15th 2011 3:21PM (Joystiq)
I'm okay with this, as long as they offer the new characters and such as DLC like they did with SSF4 Arcade Edition.

Microsoft states 'Xbox Music' launching in fall is 'inaccurate'

Jul 12th 2011 11:43AM (Joystiq)
Zune MVP Marques Lyons does a great job of explaining what REALLY happened in the keynote:

These "Xbox Music" stories are all wrong. Nothing major to see here.

Microsoft states 'Xbox Music' launching in fall is 'inaccurate'

Jul 12th 2011 11:23AM (Joystiq)
Everyone has been reporting this story wrong.

Yes, during the speech the words "Xbox" and "Music" are said together. But not in reference to a new product. It is said more in the vein of "Xbox... Music." much like you give commands to your Kinect.

This isn't a new service name. This is simply how you get to the new music features of the Xbox via Kinect.

Nintendo stock loses another five percent

Jun 9th 2011 12:19PM (Joystiq)
@worldpattern

Thank you. Someone who understands that stock prices don't mean a whole lot when it comes to product announcements.

Has anyone looked at Sony's stock since they officially announced the Vita? Similar trajectory without the backlash that the WiiU is getting.

These stock doom and gloom stories are ridiculous.

Rumor: Xbox LIVE Diamond TV service to be announced at E3

Jun 5th 2011 1:46PM (Joystiq)
I highly doubt that "Diamond" is the name of the service. Isn't it more likely that it is an additional level of Xbox LIVE subscription that simply allows you access to the IPTV service?

Diamond>Gold>Silver

Makes sense to me. Hopefully the actual service gets a better name. Perhaps that is where the "Fusion" branding is heading?

Ms. 'Splosion Man's '2 Girls 1 Controller' mode revealed

May 13th 2011 12:11PM (Joystiq)
@dscuber9000

Actually if you read the story behind it, the game mode came first:

"Then Chainsaw, our audio dude, had the idea to put both players on one controller, using each stick to control a different player and the bumpers to jump. It was a great idea, so I stole it and claimed it as my own, and we got it put into the game. Later on our Lead Programmer, Mike Henry, came up with the idea of calling it 2 girls 1 controller, and as soon as he said it, we knew that’s what the name would have to be."

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword's music hides a secret in plain sound

May 4th 2011 1:24PM (Joystiq)
That explains why the music sounded so... wrong to me. I watched the trailer and kept expecting to hear Zelda's Lullaby at some point but it never came. The whole thing just sounded off to me.

Now I see (or rather, hear) why!

Wii 2 rumors: Only 8GB of storage, 25GB discs, and 1080p isn't a definite

May 3rd 2011 3:17PM (Joystiq)
This mostly makes sense. They're clearly trying to minimize cost so they can sell the system at a profit from day 1.

If they include support for SDXC cards (which gives capacity up to 2TB), then they're set as far as storage goes. Sure, those cards are absurdly expensive right now, but anything can happen in a year.

As far as the display resolution, I can't imagine them not supporting 1080p.
