Current gen consoles 'can't cope' with traditional Total War

Mar 31st 2012 7:19PM (Joystiq)
@Axe99

The Xbox 360 would probaably be able to handle Rome: Total War at minimum settings. The PS3 would be more iffy.. It has everything to do with RAM.

Minimum specs were 256 megs RAM, 64 megs VRAM. Recommended were 512 RAM, 64 VRAM. Rome: Total war looks practically archaic compared to even Medieval Total War 2. There are thousands of units on the screen at one time during the battles. I remember in later rounds even waiting for the computer to finish its turn could take over a minute.

Battlefield 3 co-op preview: Army of one

@AOClaus

Then they should have made the regular campaign playable co-op instead of adding co-op specific missions.

Battlefield 3 co-op preview: Army of one

@BamBoozleD

I think his point is that why not just let you play regular campaign with an extra person if the co-op level isn't designed specifically for co-op.

If a game is going to have an extra campaign specifically for co-op then there need to be features in that campaign that encourage co-op play.

EA and all the other publishers cannot charge less than retail on release date because retail outlets would not carry their games.

SCEA president Jack Tretton apologizes for PSN breach and outage

Jun 7th 2011 12:50AM (Joystiq)
@CaptainProtonX
But most companies send you an email or letter and then call it a wrap. Sony rebuilt their system, is giving out free games, and the prez himself is apologizing.

For a breach of that magnitude most companies will have their president apologize. Giving out 2 free games from a selection of games that are all at least 2 years old and at most $10 apiece is not giving away free games. If I had wanted any of those 5 games I would have bought them a year or two ago. They should have given away a new game for free. A game that not everybody that wants it already owns. Seriously, If you don't already on LBP you don't want to play it. They looked at the numbers and decided that these are the best rated games that aren't selling well and offered them as choices. So they are sacrificing next to nothing.

Rebuilding the system is the absolute minimum you would expect from a company that had all l of their users information stolen.

A better idea would be to offer one free arcade game of the user's choice. 1 game that you want is better than 2 that you don't.

Microsoft press conference wrapup: So much Kinect, with a splash of Halo 4

I won't be excited about LiveTV until they show what content they will have and how it will be implemented.

Kinect Fun Labs detailed, available today

FunLabs, The only thing that looked even remotely new/interesting during the whole press conference. The only other thing they showed that is exclusive to Xbox360 that I'm interested in is GOW3.

Maybe not COD, but BF2 was all about squad based tactics.

Touchpads button layouts don't work because there is not tactile feedback.

Riccitiello: Battlefield 3, CoD ad campaigns could easily pass $100 million

I know people who pretty much only hear about games from advertiments/word of mouth. Many people do not read gaming blogs/websites to find out what is happening. There are people that buy 2-3 games a year, that is who EA is going after.
