@Goldenspiral I wouldn't count on that, as Sony/MS aren't playing nice with all the patches and such the PC folks have. I don't think they are even planned for the console players anymore.
I'd do a Tron/Reboot/Nuptuna/etc style game, myself.
Instead of factions, you have different OS's or Manufacturers, each with different strengths and weeknesses.
The player would roll a program, and gain skills/specializations by adding modules and sub routines to the character.
Since everything is inside a computer/network/etc, the graphics would be stylized, but perhaps not to Tron/Rez levels, but certainty not realistic. Real world logic need not always apply to area design, so you could easily have a sector with funky gravity/walking on walls, etc.
Monsters/enemies would be different viruses/spam/bots/hackers etc, Network vs Network (cross realm) and Program vs program style PVP options.
@Shadowbender I'm a fan of platformers, but I couldn't get into this one. Felt like playing the old crash bandicoot games, combined with the bones levels from sunshine.
@Haunted CoinOp In the end, your parents find you playing dark souls in a gas station bathroom, clad only in a torn up grateful dead t-shirt, reeking of redbull and beef jerky.
@SpiderPrime The spiders were hard enough, you mean they added even more to that mode?
The problem is more how to get the uber high end armor sets. Before this, there was something of a massive wall between lv 73 and 74, as nightmare was insanely hard unless you had full sets of mythic armors.
The problem is despite telling us for three games that our choices matter, the ending is a lore breaking, out of character, and 'push button receive ending' style affair.
Nothing the player does mattered in the end. The events don't make any sense, and the reapers entire motivation is nonsensical.
Bioware basically killed their franchise in the last 15 minutes of their finale.

The Daily Grind: Which non-existent MMO genre would you play?
Mar 16th 2012 1:09PM (Massively)Reminds me of something like EVO: the quest for eden, except as an MMO.
Gather evolution points, to gain new abilities, or evolve into new classes. Could be fun.

Mar 16th 2012 11:44AM (Joystiq)I suspect we'll start to see such ports happen pretty often, given how many jrpg's landed on the PSP.
