I would love to see a control scheme that is superior to mouse and keyboard.
This isn't it.
What if you have 10 weapons.... 6 items... moving... leaning.. etc... ya need the keyboard. It constantly baffles me how few people are willing to spend the time to learn keyboard... while it is not easy to pick up the benefits of any time spent on one are obvious.
Mouse aiming is still (and may be for multiple future decades) the most precise accurate tool in existence for serious gamers. Whats sad is... due to recent gaming changes... and consoles becoming so popular... and the trend of controls becoming such a low priority.. that gaming mouse development has basically ceased. Very sad, because there is still a bit further to go in mouse development.
Coming from a controller- this is a definite upgrade... But not from a true mouse and keyboard.
So... this seems... cool. Cool, like I would play it at a friends house for 30 minutes ... Then go home and get serious with my M+K. But ... that is coming from a serious gaming perspective... not the casual view.
Funny how console gamers complain that the motion control is not good enough for serious games....
Now they can understand how PC gamers with a mouse feel about the inferior controller.
If the controller becoming so widely popular without gamers caring about losing control is any indication... then don't be surprised to see motion control take over...
Interesting how controls keep de-evolving.. becoming less precise... less important.. more casual... more ..quote "relaxing"...
Watching console controller players play fps makes me feel numb. As a pc player used to real controls I am concerned. If gameplay has been tweaked to cater to controller players in a negative way, then serious gamers will be upset and they will overturn there crysis 1 followers. While It is obvious that every company is only attempting to get the xbox kids (aka controllers) to become hooked, it may not be wise to forget about the people who are looking forward to this from a sequel perspective.
Let us all pray that all controls for all platforms have been optimized properly.
Graphics aside it all depends on how the controls function.

I'll stick to Mouse and Keyboard.
Crysis 2 multiplayer beta footage reminds us not to get caught looking at the scenery
