Nintendo World 2006 announced for Japan

Oct 11th 2006 8:40PM (Joystiq)
I was going to ask if the Makuhari Messe was where this year's TGS was but it seems Jeff anwsered that for me. I definatlely going to go to that and since its free I only have to pay around $30 for round trip train tickets. I can see all the foreigners like myself going to this event just like when my friends and me went to TGS. I'll just leave with this statement, YAY FREE!!

Phantasy Star Universe open beta coming "very soon"

Oct 10th 2006 11:54PM (Joystiq)
I signed up on Sega's newsletter so I could beta this game.... but for the PC. I don't have a 360 and I don't really have the cash for one right now. That and I don't know if the 360 version is out or going to be coming out here in Japan.

RoboBlitz hitting Steam

Oct 10th 2006 11:49PM (Joystiq)
Thanks Lost_Watcher. Downloading right now, havn't played it yet but the reviews say so-so. Maybe it will be better at launch since the demo came out December last year at it will give them time to make it better.

RoboBlitz hitting Steam

You know, I would like it if they gave a date for some of these games like what qbix mentioned with Psychonauts. Its October and I haven't heard anything new about its release. They should at least release a demo for both of these games first so we can see if its good, the Might and Magic demo makes me want to buy it so why no demo yet if its being released this month?

Dragon spotted in Tokyo subway system

Sep 24th 2006 5:57AM (Joystiq)
When I was there I think the only reason most people had the Blue Dragon bag was 1)their booth was in the entrance hall so people were given that bad before the others could give theirs 2)it was free and you didn't have to play any of their games to get it 3)they made a lot more of them than other companies so those that couldn't get a Sony one if they wanted and 4)they were giving it away everywhere. You said they were giving free bags in the morning right? Well that means they were giving them away before people got to TGS, during, and after(they were giving them away when I was going back to Tokyo).
If their advertising helps, probably to some extent since the bag was everywhere. However you could tell that most of the people who hanged out and waited in lines at Microsoft's booth were the foreigners. My guess is that if Microsoft doesn't own Mistwalker(I'm not sure if they do or not) Blue Dragon will probably come to PS3 like Enchant Arms is going to, and then it will make a profit in Japan.

NYT: Wii to launch Nov. 19 for $250 in US [update 6]

Sep 14th 2006 2:20AM (Joystiq)
Well if you do the math, lets assume that the PS3 will sell all of its unit at $600. If Sony got the money for all of the units price then they would earn about $300,000,000 if every one of the 500,000 consoles sold. Now if the Wii sells all of its 4 million consoles at $250, they would earn 1 Billion. I don't know about you but I think Nintendo has a chance to earn 3 times as much as Sony here and this doesn't even include how sony's production costs are more than their system's selling price.

Live in Japan: I will be there from this August to next July.
Speak Japanese: I speak some and I am going to Japan to learn more.
Writing resume: None.

I'm not sure if I should apply or not. I feel like I can write some good work but I don't have the experience to prove it. Should I try and apply?

Major shipment of black DS Lites missing

Jun 14th 2006 4:16PM (Joystiq)
Well if it lost in Hong Kong then most likely the gangsters got the cargo. Hong Kong is pretty much run my the mafia, most stores have to pay protection money, and the police won't do anything to them unless the crimes they commit are extreme. Hell, my firend personally knows a member and he would offer to kill someone for my firend if that someone wronged him. So most likely the mob has them and we'll see them again off of ebay.

Oh and Marc who said, "Didn't you hear about the dreaded DS lite shortage that was in japan? Of course there's a black market in Nintendo stuff. (oddly, nothing for Sony)" there is a black market for sony stuff. The sony black market stuff is coincidentally in Hong Kong as well. If I wanted I could have gotten a PSP for $50.

Wii unique like 'Google,' says Nintendo

Apr 28th 2006 12:14PM (Joystiq)
You know I think Nintendo is definatly trying to copy Macintosh. If you look at the designs for wii and the ds lite they resemble Macintosh's IPod and Laptop designs. The name also seems to go in Macintosh's direction of trying to sound edgy and cool, and of course having an I in every product name. It seems Nintendo isn't being original with this name, just trying to copy the success of another company.
