Jack Thompson responds biblically to Take-Two
Mar 18th 2007 4:07PM (Joystiq)by Pika132
sidenote but according to tradition god wrote the five books of moses (or at least dictated them to moses), ann when he says that god wrote the psalms i think hes referring to the fact that David (again acorrding to tradition) wrote them in a state of spiritual rapture, and there akin to prophesies.
Jack Thompson suing Take-Two -- 2007 Edition
Mar 11th 2007 12:39PM (Joystiq)OMG this obviousley proves that video games lead to the fact that kids dont commit crimes!! But unfortunatley you cant prove that because of all the other factors come into play, just like JT can't (and neither can the other of million dollar backed researches) prove a link between violent video games and teen-violence. Dont believe his "casual link", video game violence (just like rock music,DnD and tv shows before it) have never been linked in any concrete way to violence.
Analyst predicts Euro PS3 price cut within the year
Jan 29th 2007 11:57AM (Joystiq)Ummmm as far as i can tell the XBox360 is selling thats why u know its sold about 10 million units. And yeah its been out longer so its an unfair comparison. But even on a monthly basis since the PS3 came out the XBox is still miles ahead.
"Demand will pick up with GTA4, RE5, MGS/FF/Halo 3. By then, PS will launch the 20GB edition which is comparable to the fatbox 20 GB - and it will cost 100-120 dollars more. So the choice will be - you can have the PS3."
Were on earth are u getting your info from? Theres no way the 20GB PS3 is going to cost 100$ less then the XBox (which is about 300$) and u know why? Bcuz a hard drive costs like nothing, the real proce of the ps3 comes from the multi core processor and blue ray. So theres no way its gonna fall into the 200$ price range anytime soon.
"Or you can have 120 dollars and a "similar" console - but MINUS: 1. The massive library of PSone and PS2 games 2. No multiplayer 3. The build quality of PS (funny how no news of overheating, noisy broken units that you saw with the fatbox last year)"
Point one is actually correct but it still requires pepole to hand over 600$ to play games that im assuming that they have the original console for. Also rember XBox has the Live Arcade as well. Point 2 is just silly, XBox has the most comprehensive online abilities of any console at the moment all PS3 is doing is copying it. And when (or if) a large number of pepole go onto SONY's servers it will lag 2. As for build policy dont make me laugh, the number of PS2's and PSP's that broke down are huge. Sony has the worst reputation for build policy in the console market.
4.Blu-ray. Notice that, for most customers, the 120 dollars (just TWO games) will seem worth it even before you reach point 4: Blu-ray. Notice that the deal seems attractive even before you reach Blu-ray - 120 dollars for a PS2 player and free lag-free multiplayer, and you get a USD1000 Blu-ray player free!!!!"
Like i allready said theres no way ur gonna get that price drop and for exactly this reason. Theres no way Sony can afford to give them out for free. And Bluray's only helpful if ppl make media for it something they have yet to do.
Please can Fanboys leave there ramblings to a minimum
Wii ennui from Slate: "Nintendon't" [update 1]
Nov 21st 2006 11:29AM (Joystiq)Thats what people call "Elitism" and what is going to turn off the gaming public to Nintendo fans."
Thats what people call "Elitism" and what is going to turn off the gaming public to Nintendo fans."
This is the Wkipedia definition of "Elite":
Elite (also spelt Élite) is taken from the latin, eligere, "to elect". In sociology as in general usage, the élite (the "elect," from French) is a relatively small dominant group within a larger society, which enjoys a privileged status which is upheld by individuals of lower social status within the structure of a group. The aim of the elite is to maintain itself as the elite. When applied to an individual, as in the phrase "many elites come to this restaurant," the usage quite economically both refers to an individual within that class and establishes the speaker as non-elite.
An elite is the result of economic and political forces within a social structure. Upon formation, societies have always had the tendency to stratify due to a combination of politics and ability. The position of an elite at the top of the social strata almost invariably puts it in a position of leadership and often subjects the holders of elite status to pressure to maintain their position as part of the elite. However, in spite of the pressures borne by its members, the existence of the elite as a social stratum is usually unchanged.
Somehow I dont think pepole how know how to use a pointer to well... point at things really falls under this catogary. And of course your argument is flawed because you dont look at the alternative: gamepad gaming, now because im not totally over reacting and making exagarted comments, im not going to catogarize gamepads as usable for only an elite few, but they are undoutabley more difficult to come to grips with, and more importantly less natrual to use.
Cheers
Nintendo's new Zelda falls flat
Nov 16th 2006 11:10AM (Joystiq)And again its good for evreyone to have many opinions out there, heck there going to be paying a hefty sum to buy the console/game, they should have the whole picture.
But anyone who knows anything about Jornalisim knows its not the facts that matter its the spin you put on them.
If you place a title stating that one of the most highly anticipated games: "falls flat",your making a broad apoycaliptical statement (IE a negative spin), this blog isint a bad peice of jornalisim because it states a diffrence of opinion on Zelda, its a bad article because it tries to turn a fairly small misfortune out of a huge game into a valid reason that game fails completley.
There is always going to be biase in articles but no self respecting news site should employ someone who is so blatantly biased.
P.S Above applys to both kinds of biased, a Nintendo fanboy would make a crappy jornalist as would any other fanboy, too much inherent biased.
