Portal 2 Sixense DLC -- and actual Hydra controllers -- available from Steam

Jun 17th 2011 1:24PM (Joystiq)
Played this at E3 with the Hydra. It definitely adds a lot to the game. The technology us very impressive and much more sensitive than the Move.

@LEONLEONLEON Yes, clearly when developers say something will be balanced, that proves it's true!

Battlefield 3 'Physical Warfare' DLC will be free to all, pre-order exclusive is timed

@JustinSaneV2 In most games, retail-exclusive DLC is aesthetic and doesn't affect multiplayer balance.

XCOM Preview: Mass affect

Jun 13th 2011 9:03PM (Joystiq)
@Cleric They are negative for a reason. They took the soul out of X-COM as a brazen milking attempt to play off nostalgia of fans while raking in FPS fans. The game is not actually promising, and the demo shows by the developers at E3 was disappointing.

XCOM Preview: Mass affect

@Ample Salty Don't worry, this game will probably not be worth your time unless they spend a significant amount more time making combat dynamic and giving the world anything other than superficial lore.

XCOM Preview: Mass affect

Jun 13th 2011 7:20PM (Joystiq)
Having seen the same press demo at E3, I will let you all know right now this game is mediocrity incarnate.

Yes, it obviously took some Mass Effect influence, but only at a superficial level. The voice acting is middling, the combat looks uninteresting, and the graphics are disappointing.

The enemies are bland "shapeshifters" which is a copout way of saying "it's easier to model enemies that share the bodies of the protagonists from the neck down."

Essentially, they took the soul out of XCOM, put it into an ungainly FPS, and are now trying to serve it to gamers who are too easily influenced by press releases to know the difference.
